Canadians are divided over Ottawa’s response to the deepening diplomatic row with China, while most agree there are more important considerations than trade with the world’s number two economy, a new survey shows.
The RCMP arrested Huawei Technologies CFO Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver at the request of United States authorities in early December. She faces 13 criminal charges in the U.S. for alleged violations of trade sanctions against Iran.
U.S. prosecutors are seeking Meng’s extradition while she remains under partial house arrest in Vancouver. Both Meng and Huawei have denied any wrongdoing. The case will return to court in Vancouver on March 6.
