30 Tons Of Yellowcake Delivered To Isfahan UCF Plant, Iranian Atomic Chief Salehi Says: We Can Produce 300 Tons Of Yellowcake Per Year For The Next Five Years

On January 30, 2019, Channel 2 TV (Iran) aired a report about the delivery of 30 tons of yellowcake from the Shahid Rezaeinzhad industrial complex in Ardakan, Iran to the Isfahan UCF nuclear plant, where the uranium will be enriched. Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said that the Ardakan plant uses the latest technology and that it is Iran’s first plant that can produce yellowcake at a large scale. He explained that uranium is mined in Yazd Province at the Saghand mines and that there are additional mines which have not been announced yet. He said that the plant in Ardakan can receive 84,000 tons of uranium ore and turn it into yellowcake, and that similar plants will be built elsewhere in the Yazd Province. He also said that Iran is ready to produce 300 tons of yellowcake per year for the next five or six years.
