Gender equality boss says men should be pushed into doing part-time work to give women the opportunity to be promoted

The head of the federal government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency says men need to be forced to work part-time so more women are promoted.

The body’s Sydney-based director Libby Lyons blamed middle managers, obsessed with key performance indicators, for making men stay in the office when they could be at home looking after their children.

She said more women would only be promoted if there were less men working full-time.
