Covert police trained to spot signs of terrorism go on patrol in London

Undercover police squads trained to spot criminal behaviour and deter terrorists are being rolled out across London today.

The covert units deploy alongside highly visible uniform officers in a tactic aimed at identifying suspicious activity, including terrorists carrying out “hostile reconnaissance”.

The scheme, launched by the City of London Police, has been piloted by the Met at two sites and is now being extended across the capital, including at Heathrow.
