Deerfield Bans Semiautomatic Weapons; Residents Face Steep Fines
Gun owners in north suburban Deerfield now have just over two months to remove certain types of firearms from their home, or face stiff fines.
Village trustees voted unanimously in favor of a complete ban on semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns with certain features. The new ordinance also bans magazines containing more than 10 rounds of ammunition, CBS 2’s Jeremy Ross reports.
Brotherhood Leader in France: Goal Is to Seize Power
The 35th annual Muslims of France convention was held during Easter weekend at Le Bourget convention center. Curiously, the event always takes place at Easter, even though this is a movable feast in the Christian calendar. It is attended by 150,000-200,00 people annually.
The convention is organized by Musulmans de France (Muslims of France), formerly the UOIF (Union of French Islamic Organizations), the French arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. It includes a souk (bazaar), a youth area, a competition on memorization of the Koran and a lecture theater.
City councillor wants Montreal police force to allow turbans and hijabs
A longtime city councillor is again calling on the Montreal police force to allow its officers to wear turbans and hijabs.
Marvin Rotrand tried in 2016 to get the police service to allow the wearing of religious symbols but says its response at the time was that it didn’t have a policy.
He says any candidate with all the qualifications to become an officer should be hired.
All hail to our new Muslim overlords and their enablers!
DNA tests for IQ are coming, but it might not be smart to take one
Ready for a world in which a $50 DNA test can predict your odds of earning a PhD or forecast which toddler gets into a selective preschool?
Robert Plomin, a behavioral geneticist, says that’s exactly what’s coming.
For decades genetic researchers have sought the hereditary factors behind intelligence, with little luck. But now gene studies have finally gotten big enough—and hence powerful enough—to zero in on genetic differences linked to IQ.
‘He’s a liar’: Why the Left Coast may be writing off Justin Trudeau
Not long ago, his Indigenous people were among the strongest supporters of Justin Trudeau in the country. Although a big part of mainstream British Columbia also succumbed to Trudeau’s charms in 2015, it could be argued that the First Nations peoples showed the greatest enthusiasm of all. With good reason.
“Trudeau made serious and solid commitments. He said no relationship was more important to him than the nation-to-nation relationship with First Nations. He was so convincing that our people went out to vote for him in unprecedented numbers,” Grand Chief Phillip says.
