KFC’s chicken mountain: Customers’ fury as stacks of wasted poultry lie in DHL depot

KFC has been forced to close 562 outlets as a shortage of chicken crippled the fast-food giant’s UK operation.

The crisis could be costing the fast food chain £1million a day after a catastrophic failure at KFC’s new delivery firm DHL left them without chicken.

Stacks of wasted poultry were pictured piled high in a DHL depot in Rugby, waiting to be loaded onto lorries.

KFC gave no indication of when operations would be back to normal but urged customers to check its website in order to find the nearest open restaurant.
