Missouri man believed to support terrorism could lose citizenship

Governor Eric Greitens supports efforts to revoke a Missouri man’s citizenship, claiming he is a criminal and a supporter of terrorism.

Greitens released a statement today affirming the Department of Justice’s work to take away Mubarak Hamed’s citizenship. Grietens says Hamed started an organization in Columbia, Missouri called the “islamic American Relief Agency.”

The U.S. government has classified the group as a terrorist organization, which sent more than one million dollars to Iraq in violation of federal law. Greitens believes Hamed lied under oath about his ties to the terrorist organization during his naturalization process to become a citizen.
