Education Department says it won’t act on transgender students’ complaints about bathroom access

The Department of Education under the Trump administration will not take action if transgender students make bathroom access complaints.

BuzzFeed News pinned down the new policy after the department, led by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, said for months it was merely studying the issue.

On Thursday, spokesperson Liz Hill told the online publication, ‘yes, that’s what the law says,’ when asked if the Education Department’s current position was that restroom complaints coming from transgender students were not covered by Title IX.
