Insurance firms labelled ‘unlawful’ after drivers called Mohammed are charged more than motorists with names like John Smith

Drivers called Mohammed are being charged more to insure their vehicles than motorists with traditional British names.

Huge insurance companies such as Admiral, Diamond, Bell, Elephant and Marks & Spencer were found to charge less when a driver has the name ‘John Smith’.

According to The Sun, a John Smith living in Leicester had to pay less for the same policy than a man who had the name ‘Mohammed Ali’.
