‘He feels really bad’: Civil Defense employee who sparked terror in Hawaii by accidentally triggering ballistic MISSILE warning will be ‘retrained’

A Civil Defense employee is set to be retrained after a shocking blunder on Saturday morning, when a mistaken alert warning of an inbound ballistic missile sent thousands fleeing for shelter.

The false alarm was caused by a Hawaii Emergency Management Agency employee who ‘pushed the wrong buttons’ during an internal drill timed to coincide with a shift handover at 8.07am. The all-clear phone alert was not sent until 38 minutes later.

Incredibly, officials said the employee who made the mistake wasn’t aware of it until mobile phones in the command center began displaying the alert.

But it’s all Trumps fault. Probably Harpers too.

    • And Mike Harris.

        Never forget Mike Harris.

I look back fondly at the time Mike Harris spent as Premier of our once fine Province.

Yeah, it was Trump’s fault. Alika Kamaka Trump. 3rd Assistant Button Pusher for Hawaiian Civil Defense. Claims he thought it was the button to the sound system that was pumpin’ da jamz.

Nuclear tipped ballistic missiles have an awesome percussion sound and light show – one time only though (excluding MIRVs).

Jeez, no news of the name of the person that frightened thousands of Hawaiians and didn’t do anything for more than half an hour after the “mistake”.
Why am I thinking that I have guessed the nationality of this employee.

People are calling for this guy to be fired, maybe. The ones that should be fired are those that supposedly trained him for signing off on his training and his supervisors for not ensuring that he could and would do his job correctly. Things like an employee pushing the wrong button and not being aware of it point to major systemic problems. Another question is why would they be having a drill during shift change when as anybody could tell you there enough confusion. As somebody that has to organize and run safety drills here are a couple of points 1) don’t run drills at shift change trying to get 2 crews at once, instead run 2 drills and 2) if you must run drills at shift change make sure that the workers who will be staying late are aware of the drill and that there are extra supervisors in critical areas.

Betcha’ he’s got a union card.

I have already contacted the state to scream at them that not enough people actually found out about this because it’s the state’s duty to hand out free phones with free service to everyone. This is white privilege obviously.

If there had been a nuclear strike, the surviving Hawaiians could have just gone back to a simpler lifestyle of agrarian bliss, of a time prior to James Cook: no TV, no Internet spam, and regular feasts of ‘long pig’.

Better than the high-rise concrete hotel jungle the Japanese have turned Honolulu into now. Waikiki is already destroyed, probably polluted too.

Retrained!!!???? By whom? those same bureaucrats who trained him/her/ze in the first place? I bet it will. Fire the bunch of them.
