Saudi women allowed into football matches for the first time

Saudi Arabian women were allowed into a football stadium to watch a match for the first time on Friday, as the ultra-conservative kingdom begins to gradually ease restrictions on women’s rights.

For decades women have been forbidden from male only stadiums but on Friday they were allowed into a Saudi Premier League game in the coastal city of Jeddah.

I don’t think it will take them long to realize they weren’t missing anything.

That’s why they are being allowed in, they are perfectly safe from the soccer players and fans.

    Bad move.

The excitement of the football match will surely be sexually arousing for the women, leading to immodest and unchaste behaviour forbidden by Islamic law.

Security: “Control, we have a massive orgy breaking out in the woman’s Stand B. You need to stop the game and get the players to the dressing rooms and we’ll tear gas Stand B to stop this licentiousness. No, no men are involved, it’s just women. Wait, I think a woman just flashed a bare ankle – it’s starting to look real serious now – get those players undercover now!”

Won’t be long now until the Saudi courts will be forcing you to bake a gay wedding cake. (/sarc and /cynicism off).

  • Wow.

    That’s progress.

Allowing them into a soccer match is just cruel and unusual punishment. They’re trying to bore them to death.

Contrast soccer to basketball were instead of the usual low scores you have constant high scoring games at least compared to other sports. In every other sport fans usually cheer when their team scores points but in the case of basketball when teams are consistently scoring points it becomes dull after a while comparable to soccer players merely kicking a ball to each other during an entire game. In basketball it usually ends up being the last five minutes of the game worth watching.

Hockey is really the only team sport that is interesting to watch. Not that I even watch that any more. You know what is really boring to watch? Bicycle racing, but I still follow and watch the Tour de France every year if it’s on TV.

Hate basketball. The game where if you are a star you don’t have to follow the rules. Do they ever call travelling anymore?
