Psych Prof Who Called Trump ‘Mentally Impaired’ May Not Have A License To Practice

The Yale University psychology professor who called President Trump “mentally impaired” appears to lack a valid license to practice psychiatry in her home state of Connecticut.

The professor, Bandy Lee, made the headlines over the past few days when she made a diagnosis of the president as suffering from a “mental impairment” that would disqualify him from the highest office in the land.

Following Lee’s comments, the American Psychiatric Association released a statement on Tuesday warning members of its profession to refrain from making public diagnoses of public figures like Trump without a proper medical exam.

And yet nothing will happen to her, it will probably be an economic boon for her as the makes the rounds of the leftist MSM outlets.

    • Likely.

And she’s not a white male, so she’ll get a pass and any criticism of her will be sexism and racism.

If Trump sues; he’ll be called a bully.

Many academics lack professional licenses to do their job outside of academia. It’s also true of lawyers who’ve let their Bar membership lapse.

She’s a wimminz of colour. Any negative comment you make is based on your toxic patriarchal, racist masculinity and not on any factual evidence or established rules or regulations of the American Psychiatric Association.

Licenced or not, it is a violation of ethics to provide a diagnosis of someone who is not a patient.

Ethics? That’s a White Supremacist value. Report for re-education in the morning.

      “Progressives” don’t need ethics.

      • Slickfoot

“Progressives” don’t need ethics”… convenient for them, cuz most don’t seem to have any.

Or “rigor”. In engineering education no less.

If she had a license, she should lose it. She is a demonstration of why psychology can’t be considered a valid science or a valid profession. But you don’t need a license to be a professor, and there are no standards for professorial conduct, other than hewing to the “progressive” line.

In my opinion, it has never been a valid science, not since freud.( note: lower case used deliberately).

I believe a Psychologist needs a license to practice therapy, but that appears to have no correlation to the quality of their work. It is an art more than a science. I’ve been to good therapists (My ex wife hated them.) and I’ve been to lousy therapists (My ex loved them.). Some are good, some are incompetent, and some are simply witch doctors. A bartender is cheaper.

Eddy the local wino says Justin is crazy. Can we remove him right now. If not, how soon?

  • How embarrassing for her.

  • WildWelshWoman

    Ha! This is priceless!

The is a big difference between a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist. She may not be licensed to practice either but your post is wrong.

    • Manual Paleologos

You don’t need a license to be a professor. I believe you do to practice therapy.

      • truewest

My point was she is a Psychologist and the article was arguing about whether she was licensed to practice Psychiatry, which she could not be since she is not a Psychiatrist.
