French town bans pork-free school meals in move branded ‘anti-Muslim’

A far-right local authority in southern France on Monday scrapped pork-free school meals, a move branded “anti-Muslim” or “anti-Jewish” by an equality minister.

Julien Sanchez, the National Front mayor of Beaucaire, a town south of Avignon, abolished the scheme, brought in by his predecessor, on the first day of the new school term.

    It’s not “anti-mooslim”. It’s pro civilised.

    • The Jews won’t care.

The Muslims will whine like a bunch of babies.

      Too bad!

      Good move.

      • Surele Surele

We never cared. I’m not an observant Jew, and salami and prosciutto is on my plate quite often, if not regular. Did any of you ever tried Polish Village Ham? And my more religious friends couldn’t care less what other people (including me) eat.

        • Alain

Also observant Jews still would not care, as they would pack their own lunch since even without pork the lunches would not pass for kosher. Nor would they try to impose kosher on everyone else.

          • Surele Surele

            of course. excellent point.

        • LKurc

I’m kosher but it is none of my business what somebody else eats and I wouldn’t think of imposing my views on others especially in the public arena.

        • Starlord

The “Muslims” I know… love pork and bacon. Eat it all the time and drink.

  • Dana Garcia

What’s wrong with “anti-Muslim”? Why be welcoming to invaders?

  • Editor

And I feel the banning of pork in the long tradition of french culinary arts is anti-french. Or are they not allowed to have cultural traditions?

    • Lightstream

Obviously not, according to muslims. All they ever do is whine and complain.

  • tom_billesley

As long as there’s a vegetarian option, what’s the beef.

    • Surele Surele

Heh ;). My brother’s line: I love vegetarian food, as long as they share the plate with a thick, juicy steak.

  • sk6actual

To think of all the lives lost to fight the scourge of Nazi Germany to now suffer the indignities of Islam …

  • Millie_Woods

Finally a sign of ‘french resistance’.

    • LKurc

“French resistance” was for the most part, always highly overrated.

      • Alain

How well I know that. After the war just about everybody in France claimed to have been part of the “resistance”.

  • Starlord

What up with everybody with common sense called far right.

This is simple: if they server pork and you cant eat the sweet meat because of some cult rules. Don’t EAT IT, pack your own lunch.
