Taxing m̶e̶a̶t̶ activists could help offset environmental, health problems, normal people say

The steep climb in global meat consumption has environmental interest groups debating a “sin” tax on animal products.

Meat consumption grew by more than five times between 1992 and 2016 and has contributed to greenhouse gas emissions, global obesity, rising rates of diabetes and cancer, soil degradation and deforestation, according to the Farm Animal Investment Risk & Return (FAIRR) Initiative.

Leather shoes will be the next target. They’ll have us in clogs.

    • They will try.

Stay away from Chinese-made shoes. Even Kodiaks are now made with pig leather which does not breathe. They rot on your feet within three years but start smelling bad from the moment you wear them.

The problem with vegetarians is they lack B12. It used to be believed that certain vegetarian foods provided B12 but it has since been found that several of them actual cause B12 to leach from your system and lower your B12 level.

B12 is critical to the ability to make good decisions and is one of the vitamins that is critical to proper brain functions.

Sadly most B12 supplements are made from bacteria and are not easily absorbed by humans. The best way to get B12 is from eating meat from certain animals.

As people become B12 deficient they tent to have nerve damage, loss of memory, and brain functions slowing down.

If you wanted to make a population more docile and easier to control then it would be easy if you made everyone deficient in B12. They would have a hard time getting upset or thinking through things clearly. They would be weaker and have immune issues.

    • I am for meat!

    • B12 is a real issue.

But, I have never read an article about any deaths resulting from lack of B12.

Given that a lack of B12 will kill you in other ways long before the actual lack will most deaths would be attributed to other causes.

B12 deficiency causes immune issues and clotting issues. So most people who died from the lack of B12 would have died from an infection or influenza caused by a weakened immune system. The death would not be listed as caused by the b12 issue but as the infection.

Also the slowing of reflexes and mental capacities tends to make thise deficient choose poorly. So a study a few years back pointed towards b12 deficiency as a cause of car crashes. Again those deaths would be reported a car accident or excess speed, not his mind was as sslow as molases in winter and by the time he processed the train crossing it was too late to stop.

On the issue of viagra, most of the men taking it are into the years were loss of performance is natural. Lower sperm counts are related to an increased consumption and exposure to soy products. The shear amount of soy in everything from shampoo to ice cream to hand lotions makes it very hard to avoid. I suspect that this is on purpose, and why the high end products are soy free.
