Wynne says ‘creating fairness’ drives her policies as premier

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne says governments are in place to create “fairness,” which is what she claims the Liberals are aiming for with policies like a $14-an-hour minimum wage that comes into effect Jan. 1.

Many of the Metro stores that were opened 24hrs are no longer opened 24 hrs.

    • Literally Hitler

That’s the tip of the iceberg. There are more self serve checkouts. Fewer hours will be paid for stocking shelves and mopping floors. Services such as butcher, seafood and bakery will be scaled back at all but the priciest locations.
Employees will not be wealthier but they will have more free time on their hands.

The stores are just a small part. Even people making now $20/hr will be impacted. By 2025, the Canadian banks would have shed thousands of jobs.
I see the automation revolution coming. It will wipe out thousands and thousands of jobs. Almost any job where you sit in front of a computer will be done by that computer eventually.

I think justine and reechel notley are giving her/it a run for most hated title.

Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot were all about “creating fairness”, too, you dumb bitch.

Tell me how it’s fair to increase babysitting costs from 12$ to $14 in one year for parents, when it’s unlikely that parents are getting a 17% raise this year?

  • Gary

    Fairness???
Then why are 99% of the homeless people on the streets of Toronto a white male Canadian born heterosexual where 3 of them froze to death in the 2015 new year from the Global warming record lows while Syrians refugees get instance Housing and welfare .

  • dukestreet

I can’t imagine that Wynne’s mother never told her that life isn’t fair and that’s that. I guess she never listened when she was a kid either.

    Make it $20/ hr Kathleen–
    It doesn’t matter anymore.
Employers will pay if they Can-
Employees will work if they Want.

You have fucked up the whole system.
But–Gov’t employees need raises every year.

Small business owners should start cheating on the TAX they are forced to collect.
Your NEW rules have tossed Honesty out the fucking Window.

When your Government makes it LEGAL for employees to CHEAT their employers–

Then–it is time for EMPLOYERS to legally CHEAT the GOVERNMENT.

And this can be done by all small business UNIONIZING and acting as one ENTITY .
WE are the POWER that creates the JOBS.
WE HAVE the POWER to destroy this Government.

When the people lead the government has to follow.

Many small businesses pay into a local Business Improvement Area. A BIA allows local business people and property owners to join together and, with support of the municipality, organize, finance and carry out physical improvement and to promote the area as a business and shopping district. There is also groups such as the Canadian Federation of Independent Business that acts as both a support and advocacy group for small businesses. I do agree that a small business alone can not do anything to fight back but united they can be an influential force.

        You gotta be kidding.
The BIA is a Political TOOL–
That makes some Politicians look like benefactors as they pick—
        Winners and Losers.
        Among the Politically savvy Entrepreneurs.
        In other words—
Honesty and hard work has become Secondary-
        To Success.

  • Shebel

Does nobody think that this can be done?
The further our Leaders SLINK to the LEFT–
The easier it is to do.
To hell with creating a Political party.
Create something that Controls the Politicians.
These assholes are making their own bed
Lets make them lie in it.

  • Shebel

Just watch how they handle this new multi-billion dollar industry of selling POT.
Are you going to get a share?
    Not likely.
You will just get to be harassed by little blow job gov’t boy
    with a badge.

There has never been a better time in History—
    To unite small business people—
And the People with the Ability—
    are HERE.

We little ‘shit for brains’ entrepreneurs that risk everything just to earn a Living by working 70 hours a week are being dictated to by a bunch of fat cat , brain dead , sons of bitches that could care less about US long as we pay them to INSPECT us, fine us , berate us ,humiliate us and demand BRIBES unless we cow tow to their POWER.
and—I don’t believe anybody that has the gaul to lie and say– that -he has never been asked for a BRIBE— by “Mister little Blow Job Inspector Man”.

I really can’t think of a LEGIT business person that would not enjoy having ‘Power in Numbers’.

I can’t think of a |Government that would not FEAR this endeavor.

  • Shebel

These fucking Politicians have had their ‘ cake walk’ since forever , as they Bleed the little guy so that they can extend their largess to Corporations that are unionized.

How about dealing with a more than a MILLION small business owners that you used to be able to USE and ABUSE as you purchase your votes ?

“Fairness” cannot be achieved because it can never be defined (deliberately), and even if it were definable, it will always be overridden by the free will that every human has. For example, you could guarantee a particular amount of income to each and every person in a particular purview, but some will, of their own free will, decide to blow it on booze and drugs. Thus you cannot guarantee equality of outcome even if you start everyone from the same point because of free will.

But politicians always preach this doctrine and no one challenges them in public for their virtue seeking, impossible statements. The poor you will always have with you, not because we don’t live in one of the richest possible countries on the planet, but because lots of people make bad choices, and since you can never prevent or anticipate all of the bad choices, you are better to teach them about responsibility and the privileges that result from good choices and the consequences that come from bad choices.

Nothing says fairness more to Wynne than redistributing wealth from taxpayers who worked hard for what they have to those on social assistance (particularly new comers) who were given what they have by the government through tax dollars without ever having to work for it with a sense of entitlement believe they are owed what they are given.
