Six Nations to receive $100 million from province over 20 years

Six Nations has reached a tentative deal for provincial payments worth about $100 million over the next 20 years in what the Ontario government says is a gesture of reconciliation.

The financial gestures are never ending…….but the reconciliation is never starting.

I see a pattern over the last 40 years.

    • Progressive apologies at work.

Of course they turn into addictions.

“The financial gestures are never ending…….but the reconciliation is never starting.”

As the native politicos always say, “it’s not nearly enough but it’s a start”.

And don’t worry, we don’t have to worry about how they spend it, because keeping records is no longer a requirement. Canadians don’t seem to worry about how money is spent. They trust the Liberal Party both federally and provincially. A poll issued yesterday, states that over 70 per cent of Canadians support the never ending money pit of the missing indian women inquiry. And they support throwing more money at it if necessary.

There are 25,660 members of the Six Nations – so $100M works out to about $3.9K for every man, woman and child, on top of any other benefits they might be receiving. If this was a truly “one time only” payment to the individual members I could MAYBE get on board with it, but you know it will only line their leaders pockets and will give them a precedent for it to become an annual payment. We need to STOP giving endless apologies for historical grievances, and move on.

or, 50 million for the crooked chiefs and their immediate families, 50 million kicked back to the liberal party, and zero for every other man, woman and child

Turn over the entire province to them. Abolish all white people. Im sure that will help

The biggest gesture is that it is unaudited – just giving it away. Presumably asking for receipts is White Man’s racism.

          A blanket cheque?

          • greenface

Yes, there is that but I was thinking of Einstein Trudeau who probably swallows the bollocks about pox-ridden blankets hook line and sinker.

The $100 million six nations alone is receiving does not include the profits they are receiving from the ILLEGAL smoke shacks that are selling contraband tobacco. According to the Canadian taxpayers federation the provincial government of Ontario and the federal government is losing somewhere between $742 million to $1.2 billion in tobacco tax revenue. There are 207 native reserves in Ontario with 126 band councils governing them. Five of the twenty largest largest reserves in Canada are located in Ontario. The majority of them are located in remote areas in Ontario accessible by air or ice roads during the winter. The major urban aboriginal populations are located in places such as Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Ottawa, Toronto. Six Nations is located half and hour drive south of Hamilton near a major urban center of the few reserves located near a non rural area. This payment for the six nations for them is better than being given a casino making it a huge and disproportionate financial payment. In the end the natives there will be just as poor as they started off because I have no doubt they will squander the money away and they have only THEMSELVES to blame.
