15 Muslims arrested in connection with Egypt’s church attack

CAIRO – Egyptian security officials say 15 people have been arrested in connection with an attack on an unlicensed Christian church south of the capital, Cairo.

The officials said those arrested Sunday were 12 Muslims and three Christians suspected of involvement in Friday’s violence.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Hundreds of Muslim demonstrators stormed the church after Friday prayers, according to the local diocese, who said they wrecked some of its fittings while chanting anti-Christian slogans and calling for its demolition.

Three Christians were wounded by the attackers.

My guess is the the muslim police and muslim authorities will soon release the 12 muslims but that the three Christians will be held in a muslim jail until the ‘unlicensed’ Church is demolished and apologies made by the congregants for unlawfully insulting islam by using the building as a church. They will be allowed to apply to have the church recognised but may require the approval of every single muslim in Egypt to allow it to happen. /sarc

Apparently its a common police tactic in Egypt, where after a muslim riot against a church, Christians are arrested and held hostage in jail until the Christian community ‘reconcile’ with the muslim community so that no muslim is ever punished.

For the first time in my life tonight while I was at our church’s Christmas Eve service, my mind wandered to “What would I do if some Jihadi’s burst in here with AK 47’s”. Just want to say thank you to the religion of peace for taking me to that dark place in my psyche.. I really miss the old millennium.
