Church planning to remove pews to encourage people from other faiths to use it

A protected church with a congregation of around 40 serving a “predominantly Muslim” area has been given the go-ahead to remove its pews to try and attract more locals, its vicar said.

Nick Andrewes said the Church of England St Thomas Werneth building, in Oldham, Manchester, was only used for two services a week, and he wanted to involve it more in the lives of the wider community.

He said that taking out the seating in the Grade II-listed structure would create the space to cater to a wider flock and attend to their spiritual and material needs in an area of “significant deprivation”.

There is no Real Presence there.

    It’s just a building.

No big deal for Christianity Lite..

    • Shebel

No. It is more than that.
It is an exact Symbol of our Society.
It is what our PM wants for the World.

    Unprotect the property.
    Sell the property.
Give the money to the poor.
Find yourself a real non parasitical job like the ones real people have to earn your bread.
Read the Bible at your leisure.

Depends on the MESSAGE that he will vocalizing to —
    His expanded Flock of Muslims

What a stupid bunch of gutless fools. I’d burn the church down and bury pigs on the property before I’d allow the desecration by muslims

  • Watchman

Apparently the Church of England has given up on its requirement that its congregants and hierarchy believe that Jesus is the Son of God and rose again from the dead, and that He was just another Muslim prophet who allowed an innocent man to be crucified so Jesus could escape crucifixion.

Proof of the statement that when you lose your faith, you start believing in anything. It shows the uncertainty and lack of faith within the Church of England with its acquiesce to a faith that is more certain of its destiny.

Expect that soon all of the crosses will have to be removed once the Muslims take over the church building for ‘shared’ prayer places: either through Muslim complaints or by ongoing vandalism.

It’ll be a prayer mat and scimitar vendor within a year (and by that I mean, of course, a mosque).

I can think of a few of different scenarios that would require a large open floorspace; a salsa academy, a volleyball court or prayer mats. I agree with you and I’d bet number three.

As Benny Hill might say, the Church of England presents to its parishioners arts and farces.

    Does any else besides me-
    Get the Impression –
    That our so-called Religious Leaders—-
Are Ashamed of their FAITH ?

    • Alain

You assume they possess a faith.

      • Shebel

        No. I don’t .
I think that they are just Possessed.

        • Red-Pilled Conservative

I could subscribe to that notion. These so-called “priests” certainly seem to be listening to the Devil’s whispers in their ears, and not to the Scriptures of which they are supposed to follow and profess.

It is no longer a “church” per se. IMO
