Pentagon To Undergo First Ever Audit After Decades Of Sloppy Accounting And Missing Trillions

After decades of waste, overpayments, trillions of missing or improperly accounted for dollars, and most recently losing track of 44,000 US soldiers, the Pentagon is about to undergo its first audit in history conducted by 2,400 auditors from independent public accounting firms to conduct reviews across the Army, Navy, Air Force and more – followed by annual audits going forward.

Start building the new prisons now, too.
Critical path planning is always important if good results are the objective.

Start building the gallows in that park in the middle.

I used to be a management consultant in the defense contracting space. Spent many years ‘fixing’ projects that were going off the rails. There is no single culprit but the way overall the DoD does procurement with every micro function farmed out to a different department in a different agency is a big part of it. That and the massive size of project teams that are fundamentally unmanageable because of their size and layers.

We have the same system – “matrix management” – we called it. If you divide responsibility around enough, nothing gets done and nobody can get blamed.

Wow — the wonders of Trump.

    It’s gonna be ugly though.

“Where did the money for all this come from?”
“You don’t really think they pay $700 for a toilet seat, do you?”

It get’s expensive because the maker of the custom spec original item is often long gone via bankruptcy court or mergers so it’s back to day one reinventing the wheel, materials trials and testing, certification, etc, etc.

    Donald Rumsfeld :
‘According to some estimates, we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions.’

Look out, remember what happened when Rumsfeld spoke about this in 2001? The New Pearl Harbor, sorry 9/11, the very next day.

Same issue with the European Union. Since its beginning, it has yet to achieve a signed off, audited set of accounts. Main problem is those responsible are unelelcted beaurocrats who cannot be removed from office and cannot be held responsible.
