Racist pleads guilty to hate crime in beating of disabled teen live on Facebook

Brittany Covington – Racist

Chicago woman who live-streamed video of the racially charged beating of a teen with mental disabilities pleaded guilty Friday to a hate crime and was sentenced to four years of probation.

Brittany Covington, 19, has been in custody since her arrest in January.

Calling the incident “horrific,” Cook County Circuit Judge William Hooks banned Covington from social media over the four years, prohibited her from contact with two of her co-defendants and ordered her to do 200 hours of community service.

Always curious about the community service part of sentencing … as in who wants “help” from some of these convicts? Surely, the point is to get them out of the neighbourhood.

She’ll get to do her time handing out korans and working with children.

  • Thinking From First Principles

She physically beat somebody and gets probation. The guy who put bacon at a mosque – hurting nobody – gets 15 years in jail plus 15 years probation. There is no justice with sentencing like this.

    • Maurice Miner

Not only that, but kidnapping and unlawfully imprisoning the victim, and Allah only knows what would have happened if the victim hadn’t escaped!

You are correct, though – there is no justice.

I remember this incident. Her and her friends are working their way towards serial killer status and got caught the 1st time out.

Probation is nothing, she should have been charged with attempted murder which is 6 to 36 years in illinios.

  • Unbelievable.

    • Clausewitz

      No. Un-Fucking believable.

      • Chiefly that.

That little psychopath and her friends need to be on the receiving end of prisoner justice.

Any bets on the sentence if a white person did the same to a disabled black person? Live x infinity?

    • Ho Hum

If the races were reversed the White person would be sentenced to the electric chair.

A lynching or four is in order.

I don’t smoke pot but just as I wouldn’t want my city to deny the sale of beer and spirits I don’t think any town should interfere with the right of people to purchase a legal product that is actually safer than alcohol and is beneficial for people with certain illnesses.

Thank goodness she was not found inside a mosque in possession of bacon!

  • Liberal Progressive

At least she didn’t get any jail time as that would have been systemic racism and misogyny!

  • Hard Little Machine

I like it. It’s a clear signal that Chicago has effectively placed a moratorium on arresting or prosecuting black people for anything. That’s a great fact to know for the people who live there or visit.

    Racism.
