‘One wrong just creates another wrong’: How the quiet transfer of teachers over disciplinary issues has led to patterns of abuse in schools

A new school and a fresh start.

For the teacher accused of sexually abusing his high school students.

For the teacher who told a high school girl her breasts should be “big enough for a handful and small enough for a mouthful.”

For the teacher who sexually assaulted a female co-worker in an elevator at the school they worked at.

Teachers in Ontario can be transferred after their school boards find reason to discipline them, and in some of the province’s largest boards there is no requirement to tell a new principal about the incoming teacher’s past, a Star investigation has found.

For female teachers having “relationships” with their students the TDSB does nothing but protect the teacher.

So it is OK if liberal school boards do it, but not for the Catholic Church?

  • Just like Hollywood, it’s a sick culture with its adherents protecting their own.

There are teachers who aren’t creeps but this sort of thing will blanket even them with aspersions.

There have always been “creeps” among educators. About half a century ago, I was sitting in a bar near my parents’ home with a few friends from high school. One young lady pointed out the arrival of one of our former teachers, then casually mentioned how nice it was now that she didn’t have to fight him off everyday at school. We quickly learned that he was ‘notorious” among the girls at high school, and that he had likely raped one or more particularly vulnerable girls.

I doubt that he ever went to a bar for a drink on his own again after that night. I doubt that he ever went anywhere alone after that night. I doubt that he ever touched a young girl again after that night. I am fairly certain we made a very large impression upon him.

Is the Toronto Star going thru a trans-formation ?

All proceedings by the Ontario College of Teachers should be available to the public, and should be handled by professionals, not by a bunch of colleagues.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least.

OT but related – Did you know Canada’s healthcare system/institutions (hospitals) routinely report higher mortality rates on weekends and holidays ascribed to medical staff shortages. EVERY WEEKEND and HOLIDAY Canadians die unnecessarily because of Canada’s healthcare system and how it’s run. This is not even true of Britain or Italy! But it is true of our home and native land. Canadian “nice” at its very best……….

It’s almost as if they have a massively-powerful union that the Star fully supports.
