Geraldo Rivera Apologizes to Bette Midler, Women Named in His ‘Tawdry’ Memoir

Geraldo Rivera has apologized to Bette Midler and other women named in his “tawdry” memoir, saying he is “embarrassed and profoundly sorry to those mentioned.”

Rivera tweeted, “27 years ago I wrote a tawdry book depicting consensual events in 1973-45 years ago – I’ve deeply regretted its distasteful & disrespectful tone & have refrained from speaking about it-I’m embarrassed & profoundly sorry to those mentioned – I have & again apologize to anyone offended.”

He had sex with Bette Midler?
Maybe this sounds mean, but I’m not sure who should be apologizing to whom.
You could easily make the case that at that time 1973-1974 that she used her power imbalance (he was a nobody back then and she was an established star at her height) to coerce him (of far higher sexual market value than her) into having to sexually satisfy her for some professional value.
He’s a pig. Of that I have no doubt, but I don’t think he owes Bette Midler any kind of an apology.
Kissing and telling in a book is a pretty scummy act and he shouldn’t have done that.

You have to give him his due. If your rag wanted a knock it out of the ballpark interview with some on the run multi homicides freak of a Latino drug lord, Geraldo was likely the only one crazy enough to saddle up and ride.
