Flynn’s plea doesn’t prove collusion

Friday morning’s guilty plea from former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn is a major disappointment for Democrats. Flynn admitting to having made false statements is nowhere near where the Democrats want this to go.

Of course, the story is big and the fact that a former White House official has been charged with anything and pleaded guilty is consequential, but it doesn’t suggest any collusion occurred and it doesn’t even get close to confirming that Donald Trump or his campaign was somehow complicit in a nefarious scheme.

In short a “nothingburger”.

    “collusion”..not illegal

Why The Flynn Plea Deal Means A Lot Less Than Some People Think

What I don’t understand is why Flynn would lie about something that is not illegal. AFTER the election during the transition period it was not illegal for Trump or his team to communicate with the Russians. They should have freely admitted the contacts but I think everyone on the Trump team – including Trump – were cowered by the constant “Russia collusion” allegations. It is ridiculous to think that Flynn has been in essence convicted of a crime for simply trying to deescalate tensions with a nuclear power.

It looks like Jared Kushner told Flynn to make the phone call to the Russian Ambassador that landed Flynn in so much trouble. Kushner wanted Flynn to get Russia to support Israel in a UN security council resolution. No good deed goes unpunished.

So still no proof of any collusion with the Russians to “hack” the election. The goalposts keep getting moved, Hillary still lost, and she still can’t legitimately blame the Russians.
