Rex Murphy: Lindsay Shepherd incident is simply one bubble in a boiling caldron

May I summarize by saying my positionality on Laurier’s apologies is problematic and my problematics on their positionality is profound

Everyone seems to be missing the real problem here. Laurier is funded in part by the government. The government therefore can impose rules on Laurier and hold it accountable to said rules via Human Rights Tribunals. What happened at Laurier with Ms Shepherd was not a bug, it was Laurier logically reacting to the threat of running afoul of the Ontario Human Rights Code. Laurier has caved to what Jordan Peterson refuses to cave to.

Social justice – Government funded universities – Government mandated Human Codes/Commissions/Tribunals -staffed by graduates of government funded universities

      Rinse and repeat

A curious thing about the Death by Hijab Affair — in her wedding picture (I think in the Star expose) — not a hijab in sight. Considering that the reporter has uncovered strange hiring practices through temporary agencies, I cannot help but wonder if there is not preferential hiring for Muslims.

Yeah I don’t understand that considering here in Canada hijab is a ‘choice’. If you are working in an industrial area, your choices are dictated by safety. Long hair tied back, no beards (to wear respirators) , no ties or loose clothing, no jewelry (including wedding rings), no inappropriate footwear…you get the picture.

    Not a bubble in a caldron but a bubble in a cess-pool

Recording that conversation was a very smart move.
