Pricey Parliament skating rink a fitting monument to government excess

The Canada 150 celebrations were clearly not intended to be a testament to the era of wasteful government spending, but perhaps it’s sadly appropriate that it has become so.

Certainly, Canadians expected the country’s 150th birthday to be widely celebrated, but Canadians also appear quite uneasy about how much this party is costing. And some of the unusual ways politicians have found to spend money — all under the guise of a “celebration” — seem more like the government equivalent of buying a round of shots or throwing stacks of money while partying at the club.

    Don’t be such a naysayer.

The cost is well worth it for all the votes it will bring in!

    • WildWelshWoman

      I hope that’s your sarcastic voice…

The cost huge and the number benefited minuscule. The votes gathered will be dwarfed by those outraged with this unconscionable waste of taxpayer money. It will come back to haunt him in the 2019 election. Count on it.

Most voters won’t be outraged. We Canadians these days are gluttons for punishement.

Just wait until Sharia Law is implemented.

Most Canadians don’t know that it comes out there own pockets, so they don’t care.

What a total waste of TAXPAYERS’ money! A “seasonal” skating rink outside Parliament in Ottawa is costing Canadians more than $5 million! And it was only supposed to be open for 3 weeks, until public outrage convinced the idiotic Liberal government to extend the event until the end of February.
To say that the spending of OUR money by the Liberal government is reckless would be a gross understatement. It’s completely OUT OF CONTROL!

When voters return to power the party known to be a band of thieves and wasters, I question them now being surprised that the Liberals are doing what they have always done.

we had an outside rink in Vancouver law courts for a time. The system worked for the handful of freezing days we had but as soon as it warmed the coils could not keep up Noon hour skaters would hit a sunny patch of ice and end up in an inch of cold water over concrete. It was an architectural boondoggle but I am ashamed to say it was nowhere near the magnificent waste of the turdhole liberals.

Rent seekers and VWs make their world a very comfortable place.

And yet the Liberals were outraged when the Harper government built a gazebo.

Don’t forgot that one orange juice if you know what I mean.

Maybe little girly boy Trudeau can apologize and cry for us.

He saves his tears for Indians, muzzies, perverts … Honest hard-working taxpayers? Forget it.

That’s not accurate. Where is there anybody in your picture to represent the million and a half illegal aliens who voted Liberal?

  • Tooth&Claw

So…a five point six million dollar expenditure on a temporary ice skating venue for a tiny proportion of the Canadian electorate to be able to make use of. Canadians are hurting economically, taxes , fees and inflation continues to rise and they think this is the best way to engage.
They’ve been smoking primo cannabis roduct.

“They’ve been smoking primo cannabis product.”
I don’t know. We smoke the best of BC around here and think they’re on crack.

      • Tooth&Claw

Bwahahaha. You may be right, they can afford a different kind of snow.

  • It’s just money.

    • Alain

It is just other people’s money you mean.

      • Yes.

If this came out of Trudeau’s trust fund, I’d be fine with it.

        • Alain

So would I, but Trudeau wouldn’t.
