Robert Mugabe resigns as president of Zimbabwe

Robert Mugabe has resigned as president of Zimbabwe with immediate effect after 37 years in power, the speaker of the country’s parliament has said.

The announcement came during a parliamentary hearing to impeach him, following a military takeover last week.

A letter submitted to parliament by the 93-year-old said his decision to resign was voluntary on his part.

African standards are slipping. Shouldn’t he be publicly lynched at the least?

Gee, right in the prime of life too. Pity.

African tyrants are usually allowed to leave and enjoy their loot.
The new guys wouldn’t want to set a bad precedent by executing him.

African tyrants know the numbers of the swiss bank accounts and are a precious commodity.
Meetings are set up and transfers, that depend on whether the tyrant is in a safe place, are made and then the tyrant goes in retirement.

Meet the new dictator, same as the old dictator.

Tradition dictates he should be beaten insensible then set on fire with a tire wedged over his head

That will not happen, he knows the bank account numbers.

  • So who will replace him?

And the new despot will replace the old despot, and the west will contribute millions again for new beginnings. The old despot has billions stashed away and the new one will replicate the old one. Thats the african way.
Keep in mind the highest structure ever build in Africa (before and after colonisation) was a anthill, and yes it was built by ants.
