Liberals say they’ll back prescription heroin, drug checking services to fight opioid crisis

The federal government will support new treatment options for drug addicts, including giving them prescription opioids or pharmaceutical grade heroin, backing quality testing of street drugs and helping provinces set up overdose prevention sites in emergencies.

Yup, gotta keep those junkies alive long enough to board a liberal bus to the voting polls for a few more years.

    • Clink9

This is the Greatestest Gubermint In The Whole World!

    • David Murrell

I am sympathetic to your sarcasm, but would the Liberals profit, given that the life expectancy of heroin addicts is rather short?

      • Alain

Ah you make the mistake of thinking that dead people don’t vote.

        • David Murrell

          Didn’t think of that!

  • Yaacov ben Moshe

Free drugs! -And yet another government apparatus to backstop the inevitable abusers and keep them alive so they can be enticed to become permanent clients. What could possibly go wrong?
And who pays? the same working stiffs who pay for all the other stupid liberal “solutions” to problems.

  • robins111

This theory of treating addicts with more opioids is how the heroin addiction crisis started. Heroin was thought to be the cure for morphine addiction and was marketed as such.

These people are the same idiots that think Harvey Swinestein was cured in a week. And try to claim his behavior was an illness

  • Hard Little Machine

I like it. Legalize it and tax the shit out of it.

    • robins111

Naw. They may legalize it, but the libs will tax the non addicts to pay for it.

      • Hard Little Machine

In mexifornia the state is so tax happy they stand to drive the price of legal weed higher than It is now thereby guaranteeing the continued existence of the illegal drug trade. Hilarious

  • CodexCoder

And Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NDP, would like to legalize all drugs. Hey, if legalizing marijuana will buy you some votes, then why not legalize them all?

    (Sarcasm on)

Heck, why not do away with all law? Look at the monies we would save on enforcement – no need for judges, lawyers, prisons, officers, the military! And it wouldn’t matter who was in office – if we disagreed with them, we could just remove them forcibly, or assault them – kind of like Antifa! And the time we would save by not worrying about absolutes, or logic and of course, we wouldn’t need to bother discussing things in Parliament because it wouldn’t exist. In fact, Jagmeet Singh would be in office either.

    (Sarcasm off)

A modest proposal by a rather modest mind.

He wants to legalize all possession..

He wants to protect his fellow Sikhs who are the biggest players in drug dealing business.

      • David Murrell

The Big Corporate Media (CBC News, the Globe and Mail) are fawning over dear Jagmeet, probably because he wants to turn most of Canada’s young into heroin addicts.

  • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

They did this many years ago in Vancouver

I was called the NAOMI Project and was a complete disaster
because they were giving pure heroin to people accustomed
to using heavily cut street drugs so they ended up with bigger
addictions then they went in with.

It’s like trying to deal with someone with a 10 cup a day coffee addiction
by giving them 30 cups a day for free.

    • Bla Bla

Everything the liberal touches turns to shit – at least they are consistent. lol

      • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

At the time, their biggest argument for it was to stop people from commiting crime to feed their habit, all it did was attract even more junkies to the area.

“Poverty” groups in Vancouver also do paid tours [$90] and recently got into a spat with some other people for doing their own tours for free.

They literally went to the city to shut them down.

It’s a fucking money making racket and always has been.

        • Bla Bla

          LOL

Poverty groups anywhere are nothing but a bunch of vultures. Wait, vultures actually have a job to do while these virtue signalers are just a albatross around the taxpayers neck.

Dear little potato, I’m addicted to prime rib and single malt scotch but the street price is killing me. Sometimes I have to settle on blade steak and blended whiskey. Can you help me?

    • Clausewitz

Using government logic I’m weaning myself off of my scotch habit by switching to Rusty Nails.

  • ontario john

JUST THINK OF THE TAX POSSIBILITIES!! Trudeau is so wonderful.

It’s hard to hear, and only part of the story – but it IS part of the story – the Welfare State enables weaker members of society with inferior genes to thrive (to a certain extent) and worse, pass on those inferior genes. Here is another example of the State encouraging an overall degeneration of the quality of the genetic material available in our society. Oh, and don’t even mention mass third world immigration ….

  • Exile1981

The simplest solution is to give the junkies free drugs at enclosed rehab centers, but everytime they come in for a hit they have to spin the wheel. 20% of the time they get lethal injection vs the drug they wanted. That will reduce the users. Anyone caught using is sent to one of the rehab centers where you either leave in a bag or im you tough ut out and go 6 weeks with out using your let free.

  • Maggat

The word that catches my attention is ‘give’. Ya, we (the taxpayer) will give the dopers free drugs.
How about giving me a bottle of fine single malt ever week. Fair is fair.

  • Clausewitz

This will go well with Wynne’s new policy of paying for drug costs of people under 24. That’s right folks we’re all helping her buy the next election with our tax dollars as of Jan 1, 2018. Also trends well with the Liberal mantra of keep em stoned, keep em stupid, keep em voting Liberal.
