Teen suicide rate suddenly rises with heavy use of smartphones, social media

Citing federal data and two nationally representative surveys of more than 500,000 adolescents, researchers found a strong correlation between the time teens began using smartphones a decade ago and a sharp rise in reports of serious mental health issues.

    That doesn’t surprise me one bit, although it’s more to do with social media than the phones themselves.

    While they’re online fishing for compliments all the time they never seem to realize that the internet is full of shitheads always trying to insult and denigrate people who get off by making themselves feel better at the expense of others. It’s too easy to shatter the psyche of today’s self esteem snowflakes.
