Why Did Trudeau Skip A TPP Meeting?

Even a Liberal water-carrier has trouble defending Trudeau:

The irritation of the other delegations — “the Canadians screwed everybody” was one of the kinder remarks — was widely reported, and if it is now maintained that Canada was never going to sign last week and everyone should have known that, it remains unclear how they could have been led to believe otherwise.

Diplomats generally do their utmost to make meetings between leaders as dull as possible: any disagreements are worked out ahead of time, behind closed doors, with a view to ensuring there are no unpleasant surprises on the day. Yet that does not appear to have been the case here.

Shiny Pony is so full of himself that even when the whole world knows what a turd he is, it makes no difference.

Trudeau was in the Philippines eating at JollyBee.

A great opportunity for him to get a few more selfies. I’ve eaten at JollyBee and their delivery scooters can be found zipping through town everywhere.

I prefer Shakeys. Although JollyBee has some pretty good chicken.

        • garyk2

Never tried Shakeys. My GF’s Mom cooks a “mean chicken” over an open fire at her home. I like her chicken but I don’t like the the rooster scratching on the metal roof at 4 in the morning. The rooster is tied to a tree and he has enough lanyard to hop up the embankment, and onto a tree to make to the roof.

LMFAO!! I know exactly what you mean! Or when one of them starts crowing, then another one crows, then another, and another, all the way down the neighborhood, then back to the first one again for round #2,3,4,5,6…..

Even if he was not going to ratify the agreement, our PM should still have had the balls to attend the meeting. The empty chair picture – sadly – exemplifies his attitude towards our allies.

He was busy colluding with a Facebook exec on how to influence social media in the next election.

The meeting conflicted with his Selfie time and we know which is more important.

If the sock boy let China any closer to Canadian strategic natural resources, he won’t be standing for re-election.

After calling Trudope, the boy blunder, for so long, I now have proof! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cc4cd9e247075e501b1dccaf981f0d45b6f712ceadccdb8ba818443eaab04ed0.jpg

Good one Dave. I just stole it! Hope you don’t mind..haha

When I heard he’d skipped the meeting my immediate thought was that the yanks had told him that if he signed up for the TPP then NAFTA was getting ripped out and he simply doesn’t have the guts to tell the truth about it.

Anything’s possible, but I don’t think we would play that kind of hardball with Canada on TPP.
I expect the NAFTA discussions to get rather funky all on their own however.

  • WalterBannon

maybe his wife can make it up by singing them a song…

Trudeau wasn’t present to sign the TPP when they met because he was out getting new pickle stabbers for the upcoming ASEAN summit. I got up very early morning to watch a live feed on youtube from LOA TV (Vietnam). I watched the dork milling around like he was a lost puppy. Check out his “manspreading” and colourful footwear for the photo-op of the leaders onstage trying when to draw attention to himself. Trudeau, you need different handlers when you go overseas. Your smugness may work well here in our country but not when you visit overseas.
    Manamilit nako dumbass.

Late breaking pressure on his oligarch owners from somewhere even higher up the food chain seems like a plausible explanation.
