How a $112K Tesla put the Liberals on the defensive over emissions testing

Environment Minister Catherine McKenna drives a plug-in hybrid — a Toyota Prius, to be precise.

We know this because she tweeted about it earlier this week, along with a stock photo of a plugged-in Prius. It was all part of the government’s quick response to a single screenshot, an image of a year-old document circulating on Twitter that seemed to show the government had been busily buying up luxury cars.

    Prius not a ‘plug in’

has a gas motor to recharge in town and run at highway speeds

You are right Mauser, my sister is on her third one.
The latest generations, if you don’t get the bottom of the line ones, are pretty nice cars.

        Hey, you are right!

A client put in 8 charging stations because the president bought one of the prius and a boatd member had a tesla. So most days 7 spots in the visitor lot sat empty. Since the visitor lot had 40 spots and they took 10 away to put in 8 wider charging spots, plus they had 6 handicapped spots. Half the visitors lot was empty and unusable.

Damn, I was saving up to buy the twenty-five mile long extension cord and associated carrying trailer before I could buy a Prius. Thanks!

Everyone needs a Jeff Durham explaining life with a Prius.

I heard the seats in new 2018 Prius will actually capture your farts and recycle them inside the cabin air, and that this was the number one feature requested by Prius owners.

A Tesla is not emmisions free…..if you take into account the emissions from the power station producing the electricity to charge it.
Electric cars are not the future. In the short term Hybrid is the solution.

Anyone with a cell phone, tablet or laptop computer would know how often the battery drains even with little usage as long as it is left turned on. For these devices it is mainly the applications running in the background that drains the battery. The situation is similar with electric cars.

Just because you plug in your car to get the batteries recharged doesn’t mean there are zero emissions you azzhats. The amount of pollution to build batteries, mining for the resources, and emissions by power plants, far exceeds what cars give off running on gasoline.
