Income gap persists for recent immigrants, visible minorities and Indigenous Canadians

As the face of Canada grows more diverse, the income gap between residents who identify as visible minorities, Indigenous or recent immigrants and the rest of Canadians remains a yawning chasm, data from the 2016 Census shows.

But wait…. we were told that all those immigrants were GOOD for Canada, that Diversity is our Strength and we need them to boost our economy? We must give them all $10M at once so the income gap is repaired!!!

    • Leftist are so cool.

They try income redistribution. The end up with Venezuela.

Then they look for another place to work their magic.

We are also told they are engineers, doctors and highly skilled and qualified. Amazing how that can be when they are for the most part living off the public teat.

so get a real job, contribute to Canada and improve your life. do not expect me to keep supporting you and your family forever.

If the Star & Crescent is so moved by the situation of immigrants – let’s see them give all new immigrants a free subscription.

Liberalism evolved from demanding equality of birth (classical liberalism) to equality of opportunity (reform liberalism) to equality of outcome (social justice).

Everyone at the same level of outcome is the definition of mediocrity. It stifles initiative and excellence. No thank you.

The above headline is hopeful news. It means the ones paying the bill are still coming out ahead.

It also means that those not paying the bills will continue flooding the nation with their vibrant diversity and being millstones around the necks of those who do.

The way to close the income gap is to increase their welfare payment.

Or cut your pay because the Canadian labor market is flooded with immigrants.

      • tom_billesley

That too, it’s the only way to pay for more unemployable migrants.

Wait, “residents who identify as visible minority” ? If it’s visible, why would you need to self-identify?

I’d also like to see the methodology of the study. I bet if you included only immigrants from Hong Kong and India the gap would practically disappear. Conversely, if you used stats from recent immigrants from Syria and Somalia, the gap would be bigger. But all cultures are equal, right.

  • Liberal Progressive

We Liberals believe in equity and so we will increase taxes until all are receiving the same net income as recent visible minority immigrants and refugees!

      Except for politicians of course!
