Briton Jac Holmes killed clearing mines while fighting Islamic State

One of the longest serving Britons fighting with Kurdish militia against Islamic State group has been killed just days after he watched the fall of Raqqa.

Jac Holmes died while clearing landmines on Monday, hours after he wrote how he had walked through the liberated streets of the extremists’ former capital.

The 24-year-old’s mother said she was “extremely proud” of her son, who died on Monday.
