ACLU rejects Christian baker’s free speech claim: ‘This is not about the cake’

The American Civil Liberties Union told the Supreme Court on Monday the First Amendment doesn’t give a Christian baker the right to discriminate against a same-sex couple by refusing to bake them a wedding cake.

The ACLU is representing Charlie Craig and Dave Mullins, a same-sex couple, who brought a civil rights complaint against Jack Phillips, a Christian baker, who refused to bake them a wedding cake due to his religious beliefs.

The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the case Dec. 5, and the ACLU has requested argument time along with the baker and the Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

The ACLU: What a pack of assholes!

It has always been a communist front organisation.

It claims to support the Bill of Rights, but weaselly evades supporting the Second Amendment by claiming that it is a right accorded to the state instead of an individual right and is a protection of a state’s power unlike all the rest of the Bill of Rights which specify them as limitations on a State’s power. The ACLU never explains why this Second Amendment is thus so different from the other Amendments.

They also claim that there is separation of church and state which is a lie. We know it simply means that the government shall not establish a church or official religion, but that has been totally ignored.

Freedom of Association. Forcing people to do stuff they don’t want is slavery. The ACLU should want to be on the anti-slavery side.

Modern day “human rights” is all about valuing identity groups’ feelings of being offended more than fundamental human personal and economic liberties. Today they are trying to enslave Christian bakers. Soon enough it will be all of us.

Not only will every person have to accept gays, but they will be required to praise them, lest the gays feel upset their lifestyle is disfavoured by anyone else. When ‘discrimination’ is deemed to include not liking something or wanting to participate in some activity, then we have a problem.

Modern day “human rights” is based on the communist idea of the collective where the individual does not exist. The same goes for affirmative action/employment equity or whatever new name it now carries.

I guess that puts taxation into the slavery category then. And not being sarcastic this time.

I think that comes under extortion.

It does and organised crime actually provided more protection and benefits for those who paid than the government.

The ACLU wants to establish atheism as the state religion.

And ex Emperor Barry as its pope.

More than they they seek to destroy the very foundation of the country and this has been the case from the start.

Yes, you see the biggest crime of WW2 was that the National Socialist “discriminated,” thus, it is the worst Nazi-like behaviour one can demonstrate. And to “discriminate” in favour of your own values is the highest of crimes.

This is where society is which is why we are doomed, unable to defend ourselves from real threats … like the colonization efforts of the insane and entirely no-lessons-to-learn-from-history-inspired invited Muhammadans.

  • If forced to bake a cake for someone, you’re his/her slave. Cakes are not essentials like, say, medicine. Slavery has been abolished, but obviously the ACLU hasn’t noticed.
