Germany: Full Censorship Now Official

A new German law introducing state censorship on social media platforms came into effect on October 1, 2017. The new law requires social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, to censor their users on behalf of the German state. Social media companies are obliged to delete or block any online “criminal offenses” such as libel, slander, defamation or incitement, within 24 hours of receipt of a user complaint — regardless of whether or the content is accurate or not. Social media companies receive seven days for more complicated cases. If they fail to do so, the German government can fine them up to 50 million euros for failing to comply with the law.

    • Reminds me of that joke I read recently, on GoV I think, about Merkel going on holiday to Poland. Conversation with Immigration Officer went like this:

      Officer: “Name?”
      Merkel: “Angela Merkel”
      Officer: “Occupation?”
      Merkel: “No. Just a holiday.”

die merkelbeest forever ! merkelbeest ! merkelbeest !
Personally I would be more comfortable with detention and deportation camps for obvious feral muslim criminals and terrorist wannabees in migrant mufti, but mutter merkelbeest is very protective of her sweet foster kinder.

    Pull out of the country.

    Let the people rage.

    Watch poll numbers plumette

Wait for rollback or government change

Come back in as hero’s to wanting and grateful userbase

Christ, we can’t let IO80 hear about this or we’ll be next, oh, I forgot about M103.

On receipt of a user complaint? Any old user? I see an opportunity for creative anarchy: everyone complain about everything, and bring the system to its knees.

    • I like your style Brenda, but I suspect the full phrase actually reads “Left-Wing User complaint”. Those from normal humans will be algorithmically cast into a cheap hard drive in Silicon Valley, programmed to self-destruct by radio-controlled bulldozer every fifteen minutes, so even the FBI cannot find any evidence of complaints from normal humans.

Looks like the allies lost the war after all.

I wonder though how many people realise that Google, Twitter, FB, YouTube have begun doing the very same thing to us in both Canada and the United States of their own accord without pressure even from the government. We shall soon find ourselves in the same situation without it being motivated by government.

  • I believe Britain is planning to make it illegal to even read anything on the web that the Lefty Commissars disapprove of, never mind write it. I think it is time revolution was brewed in that once fair homeland of mine.
