Excusing Rape in the Name of Art

The most striking thing about the Harvey Weinstein revelations is the complete, almost syndicated, nature of the imputed wrongdoing. Seamlessness characterizes all successful cover-ups, but this one appears particularly sinister because narcissistic illusion was the participants’ stock-in-trade. It was also their Achilles heel.

    Maybe sexual conquest is the whole point for these men, and that art or politics or whatever else avenues they chose is the means to the same end and not a by product.

      Its quite likely , I remember reading a study about how many Major COs could tick off a lot of the boxes indicating psychopathy, not all are as overt as weinstein but a lot are even worse, routinely squishing underlings for the sense of power it gives.

    Harvey Weinstein is a douchebag, just like Gian Ghomeshi, but ladies, it’s not rape if you don’t call 911 immediately, but instead take the job, the fame, and the fortune. That is just a prostitutional transaction.

    • He had what they wanted and vice versa. Prostitutional may be unfair, but they were certainly transactions.
