ISIS collapse: al-Qaeda recruits fleeing jihadists to renew their terror campaign

Islamic State and other groups are planning another terror attack of September 11 magnitude, a top US security chief has warned.

Elaine Duke, Donald Trump’s acting Secretary of Homeland Security, said jihadists were using knife and van attacks to keep their members engaged and their finances flowing as they plot another “big explosion”, The Times reports.

Mrs Duke said at the US embassy in London that intelligence is pointing to extremists plotting to take down planes to inflict mass civilian casualties.

She said IS is currently in an “interim” period focusing on a much bigger endgame.
