Hollywood’s Masculinity Deficit

Actress Emma Thompson says the Harvey Weinstein scandal is part of a “crisis in extreme masculinity.” Not the way I see it. I think Hollywood is suffering from an excess of feminism and nowhere near enough masculinity.

Just to be clear, the Weinstein phenomenon is not caused by any one thing. Unless I miss my guess, there will always be Harvey Weinsteins. Hollywood in particular is a town full of powerful men and attractive, insecure young women desperate to salve their insecurities by winning the love of millions onscreen. Put powerful men and pretty, insecure, desperate women together and you’ll get abuses. And by the way, this trick works with gay people too. Remember when Corey Feldman spoke out about widespread homosexual predation on young actors? I do. Remember the thorough investigation that followed, resulting in exposure, scandal and arrests? Neither do I.

Can we start a go fund me for a razor for this guy or does he think that ground cover makes him look sexy?

He thinks he looks like the guy from Miami Vice.

Can’t speak for the rest of Canada, but any father in the town I grew up in, having learned that someone like that fat piece of shit was messing with his children would field dress the bastard while he was still alive. I don’t think it’s changed much in the subsequent years.

I would put money on the silence about Feldman being “big picture” thinking, in that to go after his (and the other Cory’s) abusers would have brought down a lot of powerful gay men, and at the time gay men were the cause of the day. I bet those that could have gone after it justify it to themselves as not feeding into the negative stereotype that was public at the tie that a lot of gay men were prone to sleeping with young boys.
I do wonder about the timing of the Weinstein thing coming out now, since it has been known for years.

I like my women like I like my coffee – high on coke, daddy issues, clear heels and working the pole at the club

No they should be like chocolate: hot and whipped.

    Tired of #BlameTheMen.

I think the gay predator rapey thing is way bigger than this. Didn’t one big producer have a lawsuit against him a few years back…

Heard stories of successful actors (groups) inviting actors just starting off (with a movie Credit or two) to a party… then… it’s let us have you (all of us) or you will never work again…

But again that might be all hearsay.
Whoever the producer was (above) he was definitely into boys like under 16…

I believe you might be thinking of the director, Bryan Singer.

And I would agree from what’s been said the gay one is worse than the Weinstein thing since it involves underage boys, not adult women that have the capability to stick up for themselves. It’s more in line with the older Polanski case.
