The Truth About Columbus

Is this the last time we can celebrate Columbus Day?

A wave of cities have decided to remove the holiday from the calendar and replace it with “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.”

Christopher Columbus, the Italian explorer credited with discovering America, and his legacy are under attack figuratively and, increasingly, literally.

this is what happens when people do not understand history

why have we let the crazies define anything

    • Solo712

Why? Because, as Orwell said, “those who control the present, control the past. And those who control the past, control the future”. This is ABC of totalitarianism.

  • We could call it ‘Civilization Day’ instead.

    • andycanuck

      Wheel & Steel Day!

So would you have to celebrate whiny indian day, with slavery, torture, and cannibalism. In Canada, we can expect it changed to National Apology Day, as we apologize for white European colonialism, to every special interest group in the country.

    • mobuyus

More like every special interest group in the world. Canada is the world’s first post nation state, with diversity as it’s core strength and sole value in a new borderless world according to justin, as he rings the jackpot bell and the dinner bell for the worlds parasites.

    • tom_billesley

National Apology Day would soon be National Reparation Day.

  • “As the pro-Columbus website The Truth About Columbus points
out, the Ku Klux Klan worked to stop Columbus Day celebrations, smash
statues, and reverse his growing influence on American culture.”

  • Bla Bla

Don’t worry comrades! We’ll replace that bourgeoisie capitalist pig icon Columbus with our glorious leaders of the revolution – lenin, mao, stalin, polpot, and kim jong un! Soon the world will starve – er – I mean live in our wondeful utopia!

There is a theory that claims that the Phonenicians first discovered America.
Christopher Columbus is just Spanish propaganda.

          • If it wasn’t so hilarious I’d be tempted to call it “racist” or something. But it’s hilarious — you got me with “gerbil lodged in [his] ass” (the latter of which is actually a physiological possibility). Heck, the Guy from Nazareth had an even more vivid imagination when describing the hypocritical leaders of his own era: “you strain at gnats (flies), but you swallow camels”. Jesus exaggerated worse than Alex Jones! 😉

Columbus marked the beginning of European colonization; he most certainly wasn’t the first foreigner to ‘discover’ N. America.
In fact he wasn’t even the first colonist. The Vikings were. Their colony at L’Anse aux Meadows is likely the earliest (1,000AD+/-).
The Chinese sent an armada in 1421AD but they only visited the East Coast; didn’t stick around.

OMG, doesn’t everyone know that Columbus was “literally” Hitler?

Remember also the multitude of tribes either conquered, chased out of their homeland or simply exterminated by other native American tribes.

      • You mean they weren’t the eco-pacifists from Dances With Wolves?

          Sorry for the disappointment.

Those who hate America or Europe can leave. There are 56 ISLAMIC STATES and they can live there to support mozlems, the ‘colonialist’ Winners.

  • tom_billesley

As long as Columbus statues are labelled “first European known to have crossed the Atlantic in the Renaissance”, what beef would they have?

  • tom_billesley

Columbus was driven by Islamophobia. Europeans were sick of paying out to the Turks who had straddled the trade routes for luxury goods from China, India and the East Indies and taxed everything that moved through their conquests. They wanted to cut out the middle men.

CNN is reporting that Nazis discovered America, under orders from Trump.

  • Shouldn’t Antifa be protesting the Asian invasion of a pristine human-free ecology?

  • simus1

The left will eventually determine that some mythical muslims “discovered America long before Columbus and converted all the tribes there to islam” just as our more imaginative islamic brethren have always maintained. This will of course cause ownership of everything to revert to said tribes or at least to those members of same astute enough to “rediscover their religious heritage” before the “unrepenting apostates get nothing” door finally closes on all the for muslims only swag.

    • Alain

Muslims already make that claim, so yes their ally will soon follow.

  • Saint Brendan discovered North America.

I wonder if the Antifa thugs realise that they are tearing down the wrong statues.

    • simus1

It stands to reason that discoveries of new lands and natural resources would occur more often during the Medieval warming period or similar prior times. That such incidents would be kept highly secret to delay competitors trying a ripoff is a given. Recall once reading about fish landings in Bristol around this time that spiked without explanation after decades of steady decline which continued uninterrupted elsewhere.

  • HalcyonDaze

I find it totally incomprehensible that a belief system like the lefts would decry Columbus discovering the America’s leading to the colonization of a civilization that hadn’t even discovered the wheel while championing the Islamic invasion of Europe, a civilization light years beyond their mud hut goat humping invaders.

    Go figure.
