‘Mass murderer’: Columbus statues in US vandalized on Columbus Day

Statues of Christopher Columbus, thanks to whom Europeans discovered and colonized the Americas, were vandalized in Illinois, Rhode Island and in three cities in Connecticut on the national holiday dedicated to his memory.

The Columbus statue in Chicago’s Arrigo Park was splattered with red paint, and words “mass murderer” and “decolonise” were spray-painted on the sidewalk next to the monument.

  • But he didn’t discover North America.

    • No he didn’t. The Vikings were certainly here but maybe an Irish Monk before them.

        Leif was earlier by centuries.

I don’t get why Italians get so wound up about Columbus, since they have so many admirable fellows in history, e.g. Dante, Da Vinci, Marconi, Puccini, Michelangelo, to name just a few.

      • Exactly.

If these vandal’s were so concerned about mass murder than they should be protesting Chicago’s outrageously high homicide rate.

If those left wing clowns weren’t whining about Columbus, they would be chimping out about Samuel de Champlain…

These left loonies screaming “decolonize” have no bloody idea what it really means. In the first place, it would mean no more “cultural enrichment via the muslim immigration they seem to favour. In the second place it means they themselves would be returned to the urban third world hellholes created by their Euroweenie cousins.

    You go first, lefty loons.

If Europeans had not come to North America in the 1400’s the Indians would still be looking to invent the wheel.
