Parents divided in opinion after gender neutral teacher sends home note with 5th graders

A new fifth grade teacher at Canopy Oaks Elementary is asking students to use gender-neutral pronouns in the classroom.

Math and science teacher Chloe Bressack sent the request home in a letter to parents headlined “About Mx. Bressack.”

“… my pronouns are ‘they, them, their’ instead of ‘he, his, she, hers.’ I know it takes some practice for it to feel natural,” the letter reads, “but students catch on pretty quickly.”

Does she refer to herself with the royal “we”.

  • I assume ‘mix’ is short for mixed-up.

I hope she is not frantically training for the next Olympic Games, as the organisers have apparently said anyone can choose to compete as whatever sex they feel like on the day, regardless of their biological make-up.

I believe the Men’s world record 100 metres is currently 9.58 seconds and the women’s 10.49. Words fail me, so I will finish.

Definitely mixed up. They, them, their is just bad grammar.

Things like this should be referred to as “it” and “that”

  • simus1

“Mixy” apparently was previously employed at one one those cloistered k -5 schools attached to major unversities where the faculty deign to drop off their precious moppets to be learned. I would never have guessed.
The folks in Canopy Oaks aren’t slow. Guess by now they are referring to it as “the new asshole school teacher”.

“Here are a couple of fun things about me!”

Here is another thing to know about him/her/it – she can’t count accurately above 2!

So much for being “a digital area special education teacher”!

I have two hands, each with 5 digits. With a following wind I can get up to 10. And if I take my socks off, on a good day I can eventually get to 20.

She also has problems with written English addressed to adults! Or she is used to talking down to parents!

What sort of adult wants you to know its/their favorite color, candy etc. not to mention all the other crapola?

  • Justin St.Denis

Crazy people should not be entrusted with children. Teachers like “Mix” should be fired.

  • Blacksmith

Fek off, if you don’t know what gender you are then you are definitely not capable of teaching.

    • Justin St.Denis

Excellent point. One needs to be reconciled with actual biology in order to be employable.

    • Clink9

My Grade 5 teacher was most definitely a woman.

  • Clink9

Even Monty Python couldn’t have thought up such an insane world we live in now.

    How about “it”?

  • Editor

    How about “no”?

They can kiss my ass, anytime!

  • Mickey Oberman

That is one very dangerous treacher.

I would not want her my missteaching my children.

What a great way to reduce the population and make more room for Muslims to take over everything.

  • Hard Little Machine

The M part of Mx is exclusionary and hateful. I would use only the last name, alone.
