The gun registry’s legacy – creating needless paperwork criminals

After the Chretien Liberal government spent years (and billions of tax dollars) trying to make criminals of every hunter, farmer, collector and target shooter with a gun, Canada’s firearms community has every right to worry the Trudeau administration intends to restore the reviled long-gun registry disbanded by the Conservative government more than five years ago.

I was involved in a tragic boating accident and all my firearms ended up in the bottom of a lake in north western Ontario.

Whenever I see Trudeau’s picture I think: Mind like a steel trap….full of mice. That Dog is strictly GI. Gibbering Idiot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LCsiWL6gn0

The last gun registry was a failure. Any new ones will be all the same: Costly failures.

Knowing what we know about the last attempt, yeah, what canminuteman said.

And more and more wasted money and NO actual criminals taken off the streets…

Too many Canadians are R selected sheep… I have no idea how we will ever get back to pre PET levels of governmental meddling…

The government has to be starved of our cash.

If you register, and they win the next election; Your gun is history. An unarmed population is what the govt. wants for their own protection.

It was never about actual criminals using firearms. It was a step towards disarming everyone except the military and cops. I am not making this up since Rock stated it himself in a bit of a different manner.

Agreed but the problem is that it was not destroyed as required by law. Again I am very disappointed that Harper failed to take action when it was clear that the records had not been destroyed, one example being High River.

The Registry was only a small part of that fucking travesty called the ‘Fire Arms Act’. The cons took out a low hanging fruit by turfing it.

see Allan Rockhead…..now poisoning students as President of Ottawa U

Canada has a gun registry with very strict gun laws yet criminals have no difficulty getting access to guns to commit crimes! Gun control is a FAILURE when it comes to stopping gun crime. It is only successful in restricting access to law abiding citizens to protect themselves from these criminals and creating more government bureaucracy.

The provinces should take the feds to court for interesting in private property and co .uk rights

    • Alain

They should but they are all on board with it, especially Quebec.

      • xavier

The provinces are sovereign on this matter so they should press forward and ignore Quebec. It has its own interests and those are legitimate.and so are those of the other provinces.

        • Alain

Again I agree that they should but they won’t. It is the same with Health Care which is purely provincial jurisdiction, but all the premiers could not roll over fast enough to accept federal trespass into provincial jurisdiction. I could go on since the list is long where provinces ignore the division of power spelled out in our constitution.
