Roger Waters: Congress Shouldn’t Silence Human Rights Advocates

Members of Congress are currently considering a bill that threatens to silence the growing support for the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement for Palestinian freedom and human rights, known as B.D.S. This draconian bill, the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, threatens individuals and businesses who actively participate in boycott campaigns in support of Palestinian rights conducted by international governmental organizations with up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.

Five privacy and security concerns about Apple’s new FaceID facial recognition

Apple on Tuesday (Sept. 12) unveiled its new FaceID facial recognition technology for the iPhone X—the successor to the iPhone TouchID fingerprint scanner. The company says FaceID is 20 times more secure than TouchID, and can be used for unlocking apps and using ApplePay.
Still, this kind of technology raises a lot of questions.

Face-reading AI will be able to detect your politics and IQ, professor says

Michal Kosinski – the Stanford University professor who went viral last week for research suggesting that artificial intelligence (AI) can detect whether people are gay or straight based on photos – said sexual orientation was just one of many characteristics that algorithms would be able to predict through facial recognition.

Using photos, AI will be able to identify people’s political views, whether they have high IQs, whether they are predisposed to criminal behavior, whether they have specific personality traits and many other private, personal details that could carry huge social consequences, he said.

Will Robots Soon Replace Teachers In The Classroom?

The vice chancellor of the University of Buckingham believes school teachers will lose their traditional role and effectively become little more than classroom assistants.

They will remain on hand to set up equipment, help children when necessary and maintain discipline, he added.

However, the essential job of instilling knowledge into young minds will wholly be done by artificially intelligent (AI) computers.

Trudeau Is Inflicting Immense Damage Upon Canada’s Energy Industry

Writing in the Financial Post, columnist Claudia Cattaneo makes clear how much damage Trudeau has done to the Canadian energy industry:

“The Northern Gateway pipeline ($7.9 billion), the Pacific Northwest LNG project ($36 billion), and now likely the Energy East pipeline ($15.7 billion) are three privately funded infrastructure projects that would have materially strengthened the economy for decades — and all were scuttled under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s watch in the past year.”

That’s a combined $59.6 billion in lost potential wealth in our country. Think of all the good that money could have done for Canadians.
