Daimler Hints That Electric-Vehicle Sales Would Collapse Without Subsidies

Automakers in the US and Europe that have dedicated vast resources to developing electric or hybrid vehicles are slowly waking up to an uncomfortable reality: The market for electric vehicles in the West would simply not exist without subsidies.

Even with the generous tax credits and rebates, received more often than not by wealthy buyers who treat their Teslas like expensive playthings, sales of these vehicles have lagged expectations at every turn. And now one German car maker is proving that effective state sponsorship of the EV industry still isn’t enough for auto manufacturers to hit lofty sales targets.

“Hints”? Honestly there is not a single “green” scam that would not collapse without huge government subsidies; in other words tax payers’ money. No, governments keep charging ahead with the scam, and I suspect it has to do with worthwhile kickbacks.

    • Surely such technologies can stand on their own.

    • The long term, health effects of polluted air, from internal combustion engines, (ICE) are numerous. (Stand on any big city major intersection and try to breath.)

ICE vehicles get a hidden subsidy by not paying for their pollution and down stream problems

Bitch all you want about government support for cleaner autos. But in the long run, ICE will die. And battery vehicles will win.

I love my big gas hog. But I know it’s days are near the end.

Forty years ago the government subsidised integrated electronics. Do you bitch about that now?

So do you only travel by foot? I also see you completely avoid the environmental damage done by “green” energy including those batteries.

Cars are clean enough now you would have trouble killing yourself in the garage like the old days.

How dare you accuse my party of kickbacks!

We prefer to call it “quid pro quo”.

So , in other words, if everyone drives an EV, the government will go broke paying the subsidies?

I have seen the government, and it is us.

ain’t no one but us who pays taxes

The leftist idiots put the scam before the horse.

Most, if not all, of these SJWs who drive these electric cars have NO IDEA about what it takes to MAKE THE BATTTERY. For a good review of this read the article linked to at WUWT:
