RCMP needs a big structural overhaul, says new report

I like this painting as I’m certain it offends.

It’s time for big changes to the RCMP, a new paper from a crime and national security academic argues.

Although “reboot” is the best way to describe the overhaul proposed by Christian Leuprecht, a professor with the Royal Military College, in a report published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute appropriately titled “Force 2.0”.

Canada’s federal police have been plagued by front page challenges for years: Poor compensation and recruitment, internal sexual harassment allegations and the Mayerthorpe and Moncton shootings of officers, among others

Structural overhaul? No, it’s long past that point, we need to disband it and start over.

(I think you have the wrong link here BCF, Turdeau & Dr Fruitfly are both sanctimonious twerps, but they’re not in the RCMP.)

      Well, one’s an arsey M.P.

No need for anything that drastic, ask any “Member”, they’ll tell you how great the Force is.

  • J. C.

Trudeau’s “solution” will be to replace them with a Sharia police force.

    *BTW, wrong link*

That painting is one of a series of a RCMP that has lots of culturally appropriated First Nations artifacts in the private possession of a white man.

The RCMP is a joke. They are nothing more than a political tool in my perspective.

Bored constable gave me a seatbelt ticket last year a half hour after I got into town for the very first time.
Is there nobody beating their wife in this town on a Saturday night?
      Fuckers.

They are too busy with seatbelt checks, speed traps and minor trafic violations to deal with actual crime. Anyone around here who suffered a breakin and called them had to wait generally 48 hours for them to show up. Then a little 5’5′ female showed and my neighbour sent her packing with an earful.

The ‘r’ in RCMP is supposed to stand for Royal.
But, I think it really means Revenue.

      • Tooth&Claw

I think they’ll find the public no longer respects them or will bother to call, knowing they’ll spout and enforce P.C directives rather than implement the law on the books.

          This is sort of related.
Two years ago my son was in a wheelchair while his broken leg was healing.
Some kid tried to jack him as he was coming home from school.
          We didn’t call the police.
My daughter organized a posse, found the kid, and beat the crap out of him.
          We don’t need you, cops.

          • Tooth&Claw

            Exactly what I mean.

            I love my baby girl.
She’s as tough as my wife.
And she reminds me of my own mother when these type of things need to be taken care of.

        • Clausewitz

They became politicized and an extension of the LPC long ago. I don’t know anyone who takes them seriously anymore.

  • Mr. Meow

The first thing they should do is appoint a transgender, indigenous, climate change activist and BLM ally to serve as the new Commissioner. In lieu of that, any ole bull dyke constable that can barely fit in a uniform will do.

The RCMP have a recruiting problem? Gee, I wonder why? I wonder if their “white men need not apply” policy has anything to do with it? Telling your single biggest group of potential recruits that they are not welcome is having an effect. Who could have guessed.

This is going back almost twenty years now, but when I got out of the army a mate of mine who also got out applied to the RCMP. He was a captain, engineering degree, bilingual, black belt in karate and had been commander of a EOD detachment. He was rejected as unsuitable. His wife, who until this time had been a mother and housewife applied on a whim and was accepted. She didn’t join, I think she was only applying to see if she could get in.

The case you mention is not the exception. I could add a lot more examples that I personally know.

Justin changed the hiring rules and you no longer have to be Born in Canada to be an Officer or even get a job in the Head Office.
Basically…. ISIS and Hamas can send people here to get RCMP jobs
as Officers while the RCMP Head Office could be in another Country to save money via out sourced service.
    Hello Bombay.

I expect that it will become more of an Employment Equity wing of the Liberal policy where the RCMP will be reduced to Selfie’s on Parliament Hill for the tourists. The female RCMP will have to stand on a box to be seen based on what I see currently where they are shorter that 90% of the tourists.
The Mean-height for males in the USA that is used by NASA to design the Suits and space vehicles is 5 feet 10 inches ( 1.75 meters ) .

Who do the RCMP now call when THEY are in trouble.

    • Alain

I believe that the change is that you do not need to be a Canadian citizen to be hired. At least I recall reading that somewhere.

    • Another good thing Justin has done. God I will rejoice when that idiot is out of office.
