The great saucer invasion: The day six ‘spaceships’ landed in England

They had big metal domes, emitted a strange, ominous hum and appeared one morning in a straight line across southern England. For a few hours, members of the public, police and the Army really believed alien spaceships had landed – until it was revealed to be a stunt by students. But how was the hoax so successful?

“We were apprentices from the RAE and people had a kinder attitude to us because of who we were, and in those days it was different.”

Now, he says, the saucers would be treated as explosive devices and detonated – and the hoaxers could end up in jail.
“That’s one of the interesting things looking back at this, 50 years on.
“The times we live in now are much harsher, and I don’t think we could do it now. We would end up in trouble.”

England’s slide into authoritarianism has been no more than 50-years in the making.

I dunno, Orwell saw it coming clearly and that’s coming on 80ish years by now. Ok.. maybe 70ish. But yeah, overall pretty fast.

He saw it coming from the left (mostly because of his first hand experience in the Spanish Civil War) but I don’t recall him indicting English society in general.
There is some kind of rot going on in English culture that has taken everything that was once good has perverted it into a bad version of itself.

I had heard of it (but forgot about it) but that was the first time I saw the actual list.
            Sort of related / unrelated…
I think, that in the UK, there is an multi-generational, upperclass homosexual peadophile ring that has been on-going (at least 120-years).

Why WOULDN’T the hoax be successful? By 1967, the Brits had been getting their “news” from the Beebe for HOW MANY YEARS???

“Fake News” is not unique to West Pondia. Nor is it a recent invention. Good ol’ Walter “Lyin’ Eyes” Cronkite was a major practitioner. And he did not even REMOTELY have a monopoly on his lies and treason.

You know I am not really sure that alien landings are a hoax considering the amount of alien life forms one encounters today such as BLM, Occupy, Antifa, trannies and many more.

I am once again reminded of my favorite UFO anecdote. During the height of the late 1940s scare, a reporter asked renown nuclear physicist Enrico Fermi if he thought the earth was being invaded by extraterrestrials. “Yes,” answered Fermi, “and they were born in Hungary.” (A reference to Teller et al.)
