Conservative Canadian site The Rebel disrupted as its loses domain provider

“If this was a political censorship decision, it is terrifying – like a phone company telling you it is cancelling your phone number on 24 hours notice because it doesn’t like your conversations,” Levant told Reuters.

He said the site was available in “about half of the world.”

  • Maggat

Looks as if the BCF is getting some warning, “He said the site was available in about half of the world.” Won’t be long before the only choice will be, none, the CBC.

  • Drunk by Noon ✓

Our reasonableness has only seemed to embolden our enemies.
The only proper course of action from here on out is to be far less reasonable.

  • Drunk by Noon ✓

Reuters scrubbed that link. It now goes to an eclipse story.

  • Bla Bla

Okay, this is seriously bullshit now. To hell with the marxist scum!

  • ontario john

And of course the Toronto Star has a story that Patrick Brown wants nothing to do with The Rebel. That is shocking news.

    • Starlord

Toronto Star should have its domain pulled as well. Just for bad journalism.. Nah they are self imploding… I give them 2-3yrs at max before totally going under.

    • No one wants anything to do with Patrick Brown.

      • canminuteman

I’m not voting conservative next time around. I probably won’t bother at all. As people use to say, “if voting could change anything it would be illegal”.

        • A Hamilton Guy

          I’m thinking the same way.

        • I won’t be.

        • Trump and Brexit seemed to show the power of the democratic vote again. But let’s face it, the system is thoroughly corrupt, thoroughly subverted and controlled by bad people. Something very dramatic will have to happen to change it, perhaps an “Act of God” or mother nature, economic collapse, war, etc.

          • canminuteman

But what changed with Trump and brexit? I suppose it’s to early to tell with Trump, but the left would rather have a civil war than accept his presidency, and the back sliding on brexit is in full swing. The whole eu will likely collapse before the British actually get out.

        • Tooth&Claw

I think I’ll just spoil the ballot.
It would be nice if some wealthy fairy godmother/father would take out ads outlining how the taxpayer is being screwed in so many ways without even being kissed.

    • Alain

Brown would have to change panties if he actually had to face anything conservative.

  • Starlord

Wow, but jihad sites and others stay up… welcome to Bolshevik regression. Build the gulags…

    • They’re workin on it.

      • BCF, any idea which site hosted The Rebel? It would be interesting/useful to know.

        • Seems to be up again. Don’t know who hosted them in the past, but my geo-locator tells me it’s Time-Warner at the moment. The CNN people!

Wow, I just re-loaded the page and double-checked, it appears to be Akamai tech. out of Cambridge Mass.:

          • ismiselemeas

            GoDaddy is always going down.

    • The Deplorable Rosenmops

  • Oracle9

The article mentions that the Rebel rails against Muslims. Geeze what a lie.

EVERY news site has to repeat the qualifier ad nauseum that they are not anti-Muslim. What they rail with is Islamic ideology which, unless you’re pulse is not working, should be obvious to everyone that it’s incompatible with Western values. Someone might want to advise the PM Trudeau on this.

Muslims are regular contributors to the Rebel, exposing this pernicious but tenacious falsehood.

In the West now, anyone to the right of a Soviet-style commie is a white supremacist Nazi. Just ask the CBC. We are sliding to hell in the proverbial handbasket faster than ever.

  • Adam_E

The rebel is up and running just fine.

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Not for everyone, it’s been up and down since Thurday.
I can’t access it on Telus in Vancouver.

Personally I’ll wait for a statement from the provider before anything
this could be a stunt by Ezra. He’s shady at the best of times.

I predicted it though, Ezra would drive Rebel into the ground.

Now people who donated better start demanding to see the books.

      • Bataviawillem

People donated to see news not books.
Who cares if he skims of a big slice for himself.
If you value the news and have the money, so what.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Ok, so you’re ok with Ezra pocketing the $25,000 raised for a Iraqi Christian documentary that never surfaced?

You’re ok with Ezra pocketing the $5000 for an app that was never produced?

You’re ok with Ezra and Loomer pocketing $13,000 raised
for her defense on a $250 trespass charge?

That’s just a few of the things Ezra took money for and never actually gave the donors.

          • El Martyachi ✓ᴴᵉˡᶦᶜᵒᵖᵗᵉʳᶦˢᵗ

I’m actually OK with those things. My 24 year old self’s rinky dink company had a monthly payroll close to 25K. Some stuff works, some stuff gets abandoned after dumping cash into it. It’s really not much money to an operation beyond mom-and-pop stuff.

The part that makes it diff’t now is the visibility due to the donation model of fundraising. CBC probably spends > 50K a day on lunch, and nobody even has a choice about it.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Comparing Rebel to CBC isn’t even remotely the same.
CBC is funding by taxes and they have a guareenteed amount
they the government sets aside for them every year.

So you’re fine with Ezra pocketing and or being frivilous with donors money then.

That’s how businesses and charities collapse.

If the stealing doesn’t get them, it’s the donor fatigue.

          • El Martyachi ✓ᴴᵉˡᶦᶜᵒᵖᵗᵉʳᶦˢᵗ

No, I don’t know the trip to India or much detail at all about Rebel. It just seems like much ado about nothing, especially for a guy who’s redpilled as many normies as Ezra.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Sheila and Faith went on a pro-tobacco trip to India
to attack UN and other efforts to reduce smoking.

Ezra has long been getting money from Oil and Tobacco companies for decades, not a big secret,

            Paid shills basically.

          • El Martyachi ✓ᴴᵉˡᶦᶜᵒᵖᵗᵉʳᶦˢᵗ

And BTW this is the exact reason why the donation model sucks.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Wouldn’t be bad if it everything was transparant with proof things are going where they are supposed to.

Rebel is operating like a charity with zero oversight.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

But you don’t know stuff was abandoned after cash was poured into it.

There’s no documents, fundraised money is received directly with no caps put on them.

          • Bataviawillem

I have no opinion on it because it is not my money.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Well, people like that rip apart movements and efforts to fight the MSM and shit governmments like the Liberals.

            So it matters to everyone.

      • It is fact lolwut.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

ok, but I did call it.

People who donated to Rebel need to start demanding to see the books.

Ezra admitted on tape that he brought a $95,000 lawsuit against a guy
who asked questions about Rebel’s fundraising and where the money was going to in Ezra’s words” Put him in a 5 year trap”.

Here’s the full recording, can’t remember at which point it was but he says it.

    • It is in some areas but the dns has fully propagated yet for some reason.

  • Halal Bacon

These liberal hosting providers have it all wrong. Kicking them off your servers only forces them to find another hosting provider that doesn’t censor its customers. Facebook has a presence on the dark web at facebookcorewwwi.onion. It might be time for conservative blogs to do the same. Also advertize their dark web presence as an alternative for when the liberal hosting companies come after them.

The last thing I can think of now is look for a hosting provider that doesn’t censor its customers.

  • ismiselemeas

Why don’t they just get their own server? It doesn’t cost much and it guarantees immunity from hacks, cracks, downtime and overloading. A quick “go fund me” would have the shekels rounded up in half a day.

    • I don’t know about your own server “guarantees immunity from hacks, cracks, downtime and overloading” etc. Where did you get that idea from? Plus a hosted server at least doesn’t reveal the location of the actual owner of the site.

  • pdxnag

What would happen if Rage Boy got a job in High Tech?

  • Brett_McS

The Rebel is available here in Oz at the moment. There needs to be some serious court action on this issue.

    • I have a piece linked later that discusses “bannings” such as this are a violation of net neutrality laws.

      • Brett_McS

It is, as Ezra says, very much like the phone company taking away a connection because they don’t like what is said on it.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Not the same web hosts are not Utitlies.

          • Alain

That can be changed and should be changed.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

            Should be but currently not.

Kinda like the First Amendment, people keep arguing Google can’t do this, can’t do that. yes they can.

You have to keep to the facts if you want to win.

      • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

        Isn’t net neutrality about bandwidth?

ie… an ISP with a competing service not throttling companies like Netflix?

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

He lost then web hosting, not the domain.

      The domain is untouched.

Like it or not, hosts can cancel who they like and unlike Google having a virtual monopoly on searches and other things like Android there are thousands of them he can move to.

Even Piratebay is still up despite all the powers that being hammering at them.

      • The Domain Name is something you own — you have to purchase it. A family member of mine buys and sells Domain Names to make a few bucks on the side. So you’re right — he lost his hosting, not his domain.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Exactly, there would have to be a legal fight to seize the domain.

Thankfully it’s not as bad as the early 90’s when laws were virtually non-existant. domains back then were seized like crazy for simply publishing something people didn’t like.

Unless there is an actual law broken the domain is safe.

Personally I think Rebel is done.

    • It’s hard to get the facts straight on Rebel. We heard last week that Faith Goldy was booted, now it appears she’s back. On the surface the whole thing seems to be the result of the smears from Charlottesville. Including the de-hosting of their site etc. Anybody’s guess is as good as mine.

      • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

We’re you hear that?. She tweets support but that’s about it.

I doubt anyone wants anything to do with her, she’s unapologetic when it comes to talking about islam and anti-white crap

        • I thought I read here somewhere in the comments. I dunno, I can’t follow it. I just hope they get their act together — just remember there’s nothing else, nothing in terms of free speech in Canada. I go to the U.S., Europe and elsewhere for my news — shouldn’t have to do that. It’s a bad omen for Canada.

  • P_F

First it was Kevin Johnston from Freedom Report then Rebel Media, and it all happened in just over couple of weeks it looks more than a coincidence. On top of that today pos turdo’s tweet telling all who peacefully opposes his pro-mohammedan & open border policies as intolerant, racist & xenophobic.
Don’t tell me there’s nothing sinister about all this.

    • Also Christine Williams at Jihad Watch, she is being bounced from a Federal appointed position. JW also had its PayPal cut off.

  • Ottawa Eyes

The left did this years ago with EasyDNS to because he criticized Marxist nonprofit groups.

  • Brett_McS

I hear that there are newly available IT experts on the market, just finished a long term contract doing a great job on for Debbie Washyourhair Schultz and the DNC. Also, they will probably be crossing into Canada soon, so moving expenses will be reasonable. Interested, Justin?
