USS John S. McCain collides with oil tanker, 5 sailors injured, 10 missing

SEOUL — Ten U.S. Navy sailors are missing and five have been injured after the USS John S. McCain destroyer collided with an oil tanker near Singapore early Monday morning.

This is the second time in two months that a Navy destroyer based at the 7th Fleet’s home port of Yokosuka, Japan, has been involved in a collision. Seven sailors were killed when the USS Fitzgerald collided with a tanker south of Japan in June.

The guided missile destroyer and the Liberian-flagged merchant vessel Alnic MC collided near the Strait of Malacca at 5:24 a.m. local time, the Navy’s 7th Fleet said in a statement.

Fake News: Captain: “I ordered emergency hard a-starboard, but the McCain refused to answer the helm. The McCain started heading on an inexorable port heading. It was like it was possessed by its namesake. I was like we were strapped to a charging rhino.”

Serious bit: Condolences to the family and friends of those injured or who lost their lives.

That’s a bit like the old joke:

US Ship: Please divert your course 0.5 degrees to the south to avoid a
      collision.

CND reply: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

US Ship: This is the Captain of a US Navy Ship. I say again, divert your course.

CND reply: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course!

US Ship: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS CORAL SEA*, WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!!

CND reply: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

      • That was a good one, but: Its even more like an intentional subversive political bug that Obama left behind. Its a computer virus that will only allow our ships to make turns to port (THE LEFT!)

    • I bet the rudder got stuck.

There was rumors that the 1st incident wasn’t exactly as reported.

    • Alain

Nowadays is there anything exactly as reported?

      • Exile1981

        no

So two national strategic assets Destroyers in seperate collisions, one cruiser run aground, another one hit a Korean fishing boat, all since January. More people dead.
“There is something wrong with our bloody ships out here this year.”

What the hell are is the USN doing? Are these sailors/captains some sort of affirmative action hires?

Yup – I’m afraid that this may well be the case.

Mandate “x” number of trannies/gays, “y” number of women (or those who might self-identify as women), and “z” number of culturally diverse below-par IQ participants, and sadly, this is what you end up with!

    • Clausewitz

What do you expect when you hire based on quota’s as opposed to competence.

The votes of women and faggots?

The USS John S. McCain destroyer collided with an oil tanker near Singapore…

in keeping with the McCain tradition it then surrendered to North Korea and told them everything it knew about US military operations in this region.

    • McCain is the only guy in history who has fought the Communists, been captured and jailed by the Communists, yet he doesn’t have a clue how Communism works — John McCain wouldn’t know how to differentiate Communism from a hole in the wall. Otherwise he would recognize the political patterns occurring in the U.S. today — the fact that most U.S. institutions have been slowly politicized over the years, in the direction of Communism (not to pick on the U.S. — it’s even worse in Canada). And it’s reaching critical mass.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there was a generation of “anti-Communists” like McCain who fought it not because they understood how it was a threat to freedom, but they treated Communism like was a competing team in a football game — “we gotta beat ’em because we are on the “American” team and they are on the “Russia” team, and for no other fundamental reason. I think it also explains the residual extreme opposition to Russia in spite of the fact that they are no longer Communist — it’s all a football game.

What dolts like McCain don’t realize is that they flushing down the toilet everything Ronald Reagan accomplished in ending the Cold War, instead of building on Reagan’s accomplishments and helping Russia to fully democratize in a more friendly fashion. Republicans like McCain still think they’re playing football: “Raw, raw America; ba, ba Russia!”. Without recognizing that neo-Communism within America’s own borders is leading the charge.

It is actually named after Senator McCain’s father and grandfather who were both admirals, unlike the underachieving Jr who was only a captain.

Edit, I’ve been away for a week, only now do I realize this topic has been covered.

  • andycanuck

And what a Jonah name for a ship.

    • Minicapt

It’s named after the two Admiral(s) John S McCain.

      Cheers

      • Correct. The Admirals were the grandfather and father of Senator McCain. Hopefully they won’t name anything after Junior — he doesn’t deserve the recognition.

Makes me wonder if the North Koreans are degrading American assets via assymetrical warfare.
Not even the Iranians dared to pull a stunt like this.
I’m sure there’s incompetence but I’d also look at the tankers GPS and navigation to see if it was hacked or not
