Your Saturday Morning Funny Courtesy The National Post

Remember when the National Post used to be a newspaper and not a yellow coloured version of the CBC?

Get a load of of this ‘SHOCKING EXPOSE” – Inside Rebel Media

Where you’ll be Shocked! Shocked I tell you, to discover that the Rebel sometimes says unkind things about ISLAM!!!!! (Warning quotes by Bernie Farber and Michael Coren ahead)

The Rebel has had a tough week no question but the only thing stories like this show is how threatened by the Rebel the dead tree media is in Canada. Postmedia is begging for government handouts, the Rebel relies on subscriber fees, donations and online advertising. Government subsidized rags like Macleans are on life support and have about 4 staff left and very few people actually watch CBC news. Meanwhile the Rebel is hiring and the author of the Post’s “Shocking Expose” just can’t understand why the Rebel business model is working and the PC swill of the MSM is failing. But you get the drift.

The MSM in Canada has always been a pretty small pond and it’s shrinking fast, everyone is vying for a well paid government job at the CBC as this latest virtue signaling  job application … sorry “scoop” by the NatPo amply illustrates.

Update: Ezra Levant’s response on Twitter is a fun read.

  • ontario john

You read one newspaper in Canada, you have read them all. They all say the same liberal bullshit, and don’t tolerate other viewpoints. The Toronto Star made that quite clear awhile back, when it ranted at the other papers not to say anything negative about islam. Even the community newspapers are controlled by the downtown Toronto head offices, on what they can say. The Toronto Star through its metroland division owns a great number of the community newspapers outside of Toronto.

    • It’s a pretty tiny gene pool and it seems they all want jobs at the CBC working for the Liberal Party. That’s the reason I pay so little attention to Canada’s MSM. I find better news elsewhere without having to deal with the default PC stance.

      • Oh my God. The Rebel is telling the truth about Islam.

        Thank you Ezra.

The fools at the legacy media need to take off the PC blinders and read Islamic theology. Quran (9:5) – “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them”.

        • By and large the MSM are scared shitless of not being invited to the cocktail party, groupthink is how they survive.

          • David Murrell

The problem is is that they will not survive, except if they can successfully get kickback money from a corrupt federal government.

  • The beginning of the end was when Marissa left.

    • It has the occasionally good piece but by and large it is indistinguishable from the Star/CBC/Globe etc

  • Nobody tell the NP that it might be unwise to publicly insult a lawyer.

    • Especially given the NatPo’s well known history of caving on lawsuits.

  • SDMatt

The Rebel is deeply, purposefully embedded in the controversial, far-right ideology of the counter-jihad.

Controversial and far-right, I tells ya! Saying “no” to Islam – the killings, the rapings, the FGM, the cousin marriage, the bagging of women, the universal suffering, the sheer and utter stupidity, etc. – is controversial and far-right!

Hard to tell the author worked for Mclones.

    • ontario john

If you don’t like being murdered by muslims, you are obviously a Nazi.

      • Damn right.

      • Bla Bla

        LOL – indeed!

antifa will be dispatched to your location for mandatory antibias triaining comrade!

    • All those terror attacks this week were false flag ops by the Rebel!

      • Well, Trump got a couple assists. Credit where it’s due.

  • H

The MSM may be laughable, and there is clearly a sizeable chunk of
Canadian society hungering for a news media with a
conservative bias that will address the “elephants” that are ignored by
    everyone else but, that said

The pressure from the MSM, government and
politicians in general (look how the “Conservatives” have failed to
support both SSN and the Rebel) the progressive snobs in academia, etc., opposing right wing news,
is overwhelming – the Rebel will not be able to withstand it. No
large conservative media organization in Canada will be able to.

    • I have it from good sources that they are doing fine in fact. The past week has not caused undue hardship viewer or subscriber loss etc.

      • DMB

I hope you are correct! The goodbye faith video alone has a substantially greater amount of dislikes than likes. Rebel viewers are clearly upset that Faith has been fired. I like Ezra and I believe Caoyln Robertson was intent on causing chaos against the Rebel from the beginning in order to cause harm from within. In order for the Rebel to survive and even grow I do believe that Ezra must remove himself from any editorial positions from within and have someone else do. Also the Rebel must partner with a much stronger conservative media such as Breitbart, InfoWars, etc. in order to better handle the increasingly deadlier attacks the left is attempting on media outlets such as the Rebel. If anything Ezra is guilty of is poor editorial decision making such as hiring the left wing mole Caolyn without even doing a background check!

        • Well I did listen to the Faith interview, it was clearly poor judgement to have assented however to my view it is forgivable, she is not a “Scare Quote Nazi” and a reprimand/suspension would have been enough so I can understand that people are upset.

I am certain that lessons have been learned, one being to properly vet new hires before you end up with another Caoyln Robertson.

The universe will unfold as it should;)

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Issue isn’t editorial, it’s money and where it’s going.

The non-stop asking for money has only accelerating the last year and nothing is there to show for it.

Premium was supposed to pay for operations at Rebel
yet the calls for cash have never stopped, onluy increased 10 fold.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Unsubs on the main channel are over 11,000 now and still dropping.
over 8 thousand on Friday alone.

Since Premium numbers are secret it’s just Ezra’s word.

Rebel has deleted comments questioning issues of money
on the Rebel site over the last 2 years.

          • That’s about 1%.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

It’s still dropping across all channels except the french one.

When Gavin announces he’s gone that will trigger another wave since he’s even more watched the Faith.

Might as well rename it Rebel Alberta pretty soon because nobody really watches Menzies and the rest of them in real numbers.

          • BillyHW

Yesterday the number of YouTube subscribers was 845k. Today it’s at 860k.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

            873,833 before the blowup

            859,315 as of this post

          • DMB

Good point! The fact that Ezra had made a video saying he was blackmailed into giving money to Caoyln does raise a lot of questions on where the money is going at the Rebel.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

He never actually addressed that accusation of Rebel funds.

I also remember posts by Caolyn weeks ago about getting a new place and building a studio and Ezra was in on it.

Now Ezra is claiming the apartment was blackmail…

Ezra’s full of it.. He was gushing about how Rebel has started up in London.

      • Good to hear.

      • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

And a good source told you Barry was only a volunteer for Sheila
and the security fundraiser was legit. He was hired 2 years ago after an earlier fundraiser.

The money raised then was more then enough to pay him for
the occasional times he is needed.

The fact that Sheila and Ezra lied outright saying she had no security is an issue regardless.

$25,000 collected for a documentary on Iraq still hasn’t been produced.

There’s a lot of shady shit going on at Rebel.

I want Rebel to survive as much as anyone but Ezra needs to go
or the books need to be opened and there needs to be continual transparancy with the money and where it’s going.

        • H

I agree – I want them to survive too (like, desperately – the hatred that they have engendered in the MSM indicates that they are doing something right) but the warning light has come on for me as well. They have to play fair and not try to take advantage of their supporters or they just won’t succeed. Honesty is the best policy, even from a practical standpoint.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Rebel is a business operating like a charity wtihout the oversight.

Rebel is literally raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars
and most of what they produce always leads to more calls for money.

That was the main point of Caolin’s video, it’s not about news, it’s about making more excuses for asking for money.

I personally think Ezra is using Rebel as his own personal piggy bank.

Frank Magazine says Ezra in in dept for millions on a house he is building and currently fighting contractors in court over unpaid depts.

          • Minicapt

            Frank Magazine? Oh dear …

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

I know, but if it’s true the court documents will be there.

Ezra is going to have to start opening the books sooner or later.
I knew something was coming, just not this bad.

Time to face facts, Rebel has been raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars with not a hell of a lot to show for it and stuff they collected cash for never appeared at all.

      • disqusW6sf

        Thank you.

  • k2

Slightly OT- Is it just me, or is the Rebel currently down right now? I tried a couple of times last night and again just now and the “server is unavailable”.

    • It’s working for me…

    • I’m connecting.

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

It’s been down several times the last couple days for me and down as of this post. (Telus in Vancouver)

It’s a DNS issue since it’s up for some people and down for others.

“’s server DNS address could not be found.”

      Might be an attack.

      • k2

Thanks – I’ll wait it out and if necessary, contact them by email

        • simus1

My internet provider is a bell affiliate and I’ve lost the connection to since Thursday. You don’t suppose they are waiting to write down the names of anyone who calls in wanting it fixed?

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Been down that path before in the 90’s. ISP’s in Canada can’t block stuff like Rebel.

          • Mike

Hmmm… down for me as well, I wonder if it’s ISP interference?

As nearly as I can tell, they had to change hosting or something, and the DNS hasn’t fully propagated yet. I’ve been able to get the IP# off an American DNS that I have access to:

            and then it works.

  • Tom Forsythe

What is the deal with Robyn Urback? She is supposedly a conservative, but she writes for, and piled on Ezra. Also was she born a dude, and why is her writing so bad?

    • It’s groupthink. Many alleged conservatives are in fact Liberals, I guess the CBC needs its token “right wing” reporter to keep up a facade of unbiased reporting. Looks good at budget hand out time I guess.

  • David Murrell

On the discussion of the NP being uncritical of Islam (like everyone else in the media cartel), Stewart Bell — a reporter with good expertise on Islamic terrorism — moved from the NP to Global News. He over the years wrote good investigative pieces on the Islamic threat in Canada, and as well a book on it. Recently he did an expose on, I think, Islamic extremism in Alberta — so now the NP lacks any competent writer on the terrorist file.

Whether Bell was pushed out of the NP, or whether he saw the light and sees greener pastures at Global, I have no idea.

  • BillyHW

Michael Coren said Ezra Levant hurts people’s feeweengs. Awwwwww.

Michael Coren is also upset that Ezra Levant says whatever he wants, and won’t submit to the broadcast authorities. Why would anyone want to watch a journalist who doesn’t submit to the proper authorities?

(Sorry, I can’t stop laughing. Is this a hit piece, or a commercial for the Rebel?)

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Ezra also sues people who do the same and gets other people to pay for it.

  • Waffle

Warnica couldn’t stuff any more dishes into that kitchen sink if he tried. I got bored half way through (or was it a quarter way through?) and switched channels. But I must admit, I am (slightly) fascinated by his creative adjectives.

  • bargogx1

Here’s where the writer really tips his hand:

“In his address, Levant spoke to another key tenet of the counter-jihad:
the belief that Islam is not a race, or even a religion, but an ideology
open to attack. “Islam is not a private faith,” he said. “It is a
political expression. Every day we see that. And this is the one faith
Justin Trudeau says we may no longer criticize.”

A “belief”. He calls the fact that Islam is not a race a “belief”.

  • Tooth&Claw

    Bombard on the Rebel kerfuffle:

    • I have just been made aware of something even better regarding this little shake-down attempt.

  • Shebel

I thought being ”Counter Jihad’ was a good thing and this is why we give billions of dollars to the CIA and CSIS —–you know—to protect our Nations and Citizens from murderous Muslims.
This article appears to paint being against Jihadis as a crime and a WHITE thing.
Are we now supposed to be’ Pro-Jihad’ ?

What the HELL is going on ?

  • simus1

I wonder about if the begging is really more along the lines of banging the drum to replace money that has already been spent in advance. If you waited for donations to fully pay for travel to breaking stories the urgency might not still be there. Greed fueled deceptive practices or just what works? Guess time will tell.

  • truepeers

The National Post can’t give you one historical example of a non-Muslim people who have peacefully coexisted alongside Islam (dhimmis don’t count). No one can. Some of their writers are even presumably aware of the civilizations or pre-Islamic societies that have been destroyed in the mediterranean world, middle and far east. That they are so self-righteous about peaceful coexistence in modern times tells you how invested they are in the belief that liberal democracy is the first ever solution and not a universal solvent, or at least if it something of the latter it serves the greater good of the former. but what if liberalism only destroys? Who’s next, asked Trump of the antifa mob, Washington, Jefferson? You betcha. Liberalism and Islam have something in common! Trudeau is not just a useful idiot.
