Captain of USS Fitzgerald and his executive officer are removed from duty after deadly collision with a cargo ship

The highest ranking naval leaders who were aboard the USS Fitzgerald when the ship crashed in June off the coast of Japan, will be removed from duty.

Adm. William Moran, the vice chief of naval operations, said Thursday that the ship’s captain Cmdr. Bryce Benson and executive officer, Cmrd. Sean Babbitt will be relieved of their command.

Additionally Master Chief Petty Officer Brice Baldwin, the ship’s command master chief is being removed. Nearly a dozen other crew members face punishment.

      Well , the Red and Green lights which are used on planes is seen mainly for coming at a boat because the rear light is white.
      The red light is on the PORT side and it is on the left when standing at the helm. It’s better when I learned in the Scouts that a red and green light coming at you was on the bow and the red must be on my right .

      Planes are more relevant today for red and green at night but they now added strobe lights which are different on a helicopter that can rotate on the spot and fool a person .

    Watch for CNN to claim that a transgender male in a dress would have got the attention of the cargo ship to avoid the crash .

    I can understand removing the CO, OOW and possibly the XO but what the does the Command Master Chief have to do with the responsibility of the command team, bridge watch keepers and lookouts for not doing their job. He’s there to “provide input in the formulation, implementation, and execution of policies concerning morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, family support, and training of enlisted Sailors, as well as providing input and advice in matters affecting mission and operations as required” not to keep the ship safe while transiting congested shipping lanes. Seems to me the US Navy has conducted a witch hunt and he got caught up in their PC net. The people who should be standing before the man are the CO and Bridge Watckeeping Officer because it’s those two who were ultimately responsible for keeping their ship safe and to ruin the careers of people who had no direct command responsibilities during the collision is nothing short of bullshit..
