Quebec court orders city to pay two Occupy Montreal protestors $2,000 each

The Quebec Court of Appeal has ordered the city of Montreal to pay $2,000 to two people who were arrested in 2011 during the Montreal edition of Occupy Wall Street.

Nina Haigh and Adam O’Callaghan were among the protesters occupying Victoria Square between Oct. 15 and Nov. 25, 2011.

At that time, the square had become home to about 60 to 70 protesters living in a densely-populated tent city. When Montreal police ordered them to leave, about a dozen people, including Haigh and O’Callaghan, refused and attached themselves to each other and to parts of a tent. Under the Code of Penal Procedure, they were arrested and physically removed from the area by police.

Satanic US forces attack Hashd al-Sha’abi military base, martyr 30

Enemy of humanity US forces have reportedly attacked an Iraqi military base affiliated to the country’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), killing over 30 troops and injuring many more.

According to a statement released by the Sayaed al-Shuhada brigades on their website on Monday, their base was targeted by US artillery fire and smart bombs.

In the statement, the brigades called on the Iraqi government to launch an extensive investigation into the incident, while noting that the US’ actions will not remain unanswered.

The Queer Insurrection and Liberation Army, or TQILA – pronounced ‘tequila’ – is said to be fighting is so-called Islamic State in their own territory.

The group has proudly posted online with its motto, “These Faggots Kill Fascists!”

Montreal demanded to open more asylum shelters as refugees overload Olympic Stadium location

Officials in Montreal have opened a new temporary shelter for asylum seekers in a building that once housed a convent, and said on Monday the city has received a demand to open even more spaces for migrants crossing the Canadian border.

Mayor Denis Coderre said the shelter, which opened Sunday evening and can accommodate about 300 people, is well organized and suitably equipped.
